Oh, and the problem with Naraku is that he doesn't die. A show gets boring if the main villain is practically invincible. Where's the conflict? He'll just come back again.

    There, I'm done.

You should totally do a big one on Naraku. Like, how to fix him.

And for the minor characters, too. Like Kohaku (boomerang chick's evil brother).

Oh, but the one good thing about Inuyasha is the music. Change the World made me fall in love with J-pop.

And don't ask me how I remember these names. I watched the show like four years ago, and I still remember it, though I have no idea how -.-

Every six months or so, I like to check in on the manga to see how it's doing. It seems to repeat over and over again. Someone gets new training, and Naraku becomes a stronger being. We have no hope.

Re: ITT How to make a good show out of Inuyasha

So instead of Inuyasha being half demon-wolf/half little bitch, we could make him some college student from the 1974, who, after figuring out time travel, gets stuck in feudal Japan. As such, he spends many many years turning in this bad-ass half-demon/half-samurai/half-smart guy. Because he is from the future, he is also able to invent a lot of things, and he becomes very rich and becomes the Emperor of Japan. But because of his interference with the past, he changes the future, causing an overlap in time transports young Hitler, and Nazi Hitler back to Feudal Japan. Young Hitler befriends Inuyasha while Nazi Hitler tries to take over the world. So now Young Hitler and Inuyasha must work together, in order to save the world from Nazi Hitler. Did I mention Nazi Hitler also has an Army of Demon-Zombie-Tyrannosauruses-Rexes with a jetpacks and laser guns that only he and Young Hitler can see? Well, to level the playing field, Iunyasha invents these boots that allow him to jump into space, so he can fight the DZTRs.

The story ends with Young Hitler and Inuyahsa traveling back to 1936 Germany, where they eat many Bratwurst hotdogs and compete in the Olympics. But they don't place and fade into history. The End.

Re: ITT How to make a good show out of Inuyasha

Before I get into this post, I must point something out: I am a night person. I stay up late every night, and usually even beyond the sunrise (especially on nights when I'm working, since I often don't even get home until the sun is up).

Now, this means that I tend to watch a lot of late night TV. However, there isn't a lot on. So I usually end up watching Adult Swim every night. How does this relate?

Well, Inuyasha is on Adult Swim A LOT. I think I must have seen ever episode out three times over by now. So I know a lot of things I otherwise wouldn't. Now, that's not to say that I hate the show. It's an ok show that I would probably watch occasionally anyway, but the fact is that I've absorbed a ****ton of it regardless.

So with that said, let me begin...

Why would I forget his name? Because he's not that memorable of a character, man. His conflict of having a vacuum in his hand that will eventually suck him up just isn't that interesting. So let's modify it.
Instead, whenever he uses his hand to suck up demons, the power of that demon becomes his own. So he has a lot of potential to be become incredibly powerful and use his power for good, in fact he could potentially become more powerful than Naraku and whoop his ass. The problem is that...Well, where do you think those demons go when he sucks them up? What keeps him from using his ability whenever he wants is that every demon he sucks up becomes a voice in his mind. Every time he uses his wind tunnel, he becomes more corrupted and it becomes harder to resist that voice in his head that tells him to kill, rape, etc. In fact, the only reason he hasn't turned evil yet his because of his training as a Monk, which helps him purify his mind. So his conflict is that while he can become powerful enough to save lives and be the greatest hero ever, he's way too scared that one day it might be too much and he'll harm his friends, who he deeply cares for despite whatever he shows on the outside.
                    Now THAT'S an inner conflict.
I can agree with this. The stupid ass saimyosho that always happen to come up just when his super suck vacuum would be most useful is a terrible foil. Using this type of thing as a foil for his amazing power would be great, especially if there is some sort of obvious thing like "oh man if i suck up an incarnation of naraku, he'd just take absolute control immediately".

Which is a problem he could address! The way I see him, he should have a huge idolation of Inuyasha. Some people look up to superheroes when they need an role model. Squirrel kid looks up to Inuyasha. After all, he IS the main protagonist and most powerful guy in the group. Of course, Inuyasha doesn't realize this at all. In fact, he pretty much ignores squirrel kid, he's just some kid that tags along. And that's squirrel kid's problem: Inuyasha, who he looks up to, hardly recognizes his existence as part of the team, much less that he can be useful and important. So while he's with the team, he's constantly trying to do things that he hopes will gain Inuyasha's notice. Even a simple "good job, kid" would make his day. But that's pretty hard when you're small, weak, and your ability to turn into small things isn't too useful. **** the whole "my father died" crap. His motivation to become stronger and face demons is to gain the approval and respect of his peers.
I don't think you've seen a whole lot of episodes. He joined the team because of his dad or something, but he's constantly trying to prove his worth as a member of the team, despite his size/presumed weakness. The only thing is that he doesn't idolize Inuyasha, but he IS looking for his approval as a valuable member of the team. Oh and by the way, he's a fox demon, not a squirrel boy.

Sesshomaru is a ****ing douchebag. Since his attitude is always either "stoic" or "very pissed", he's a boring character with a cardboard personality. How about uhhhhhhh OH, I know! How about he actually cares about his brother?
It's like this. Sesshomaru doesn't like Inuyasha. He's annoyingly arrogant, and doesn't know when to give up a fight he can't win. But in his own dick-ish way, he takes care to make sure Inuyasha doesn't get himself killed. Maybe before he died, his father, the great demon, made Sesshomaru promise to look after his family, human or not. When Sesshomaru and Inuyasha clashed against each other for the sword, Sesshomaru wasn't in it for the sword as much as not letting Inuyasha have it. He knew the sword was incredibly powerful, and was concerned that it might be too much for Inuyasha and would lead to his demise. Whenever he shows up to face against Inuyasha, he's testing him, and making sure Inuyasha's strong enough to defend himself.
He'd still be a total douchebag, but at least the audience would know that deep down, there IS a shred niceness in him.
                    ****ing douchebag.
Sesshomaru's shred of niceness is expressed through his relationship with Rin. He is a ****ing douchebag, though. He got a perfectly fine sword as his birthright, yet still fights Inuyasha many times in effort to take Tessaiga. But it's for naught-- Tessaiga is supposed to have to be used to protect humans, so the sword would be MOSTLY useless for Sesshomaru anyway (not like he needs a stupid ass sword to protect Rin anyway). Furthermore, I feel that his douchebaggedness is meant to contrast Inuyasha's relative niceness, not just as a means of exaggerating the "bad guy", but also to show that being a full-demon is not necessarily a good thing, and that, in fact, Inuyasha is a better person for not being a full demon.

What I don't get is why boomerang chick and Kagome never really have a more familiar friendship. I mean, they're the only two girls in their group. You'd think they'd kinda stick together and talk about the stuff that only interests women. I mean, really, who else are you gonna talk to about your strange relationship with Inuyasha? Boomerang chick would be kind of like a big sister for Kagome. Teaching her how to cook in the wilderness, basic self defense, treat infected wounds with medicinal herbs found in the woods, and giving general advice on boys. And in return, Kagome would teach her things from her world, like introducing her to makeup, mp3 players, and fashion clothes. I can imagine a whole episode where Kagome takes boomerang chick to a mall, and they go on a shopping spree as she marvels at all the amazing things. That kind of girly stuff.
But noooo. Instead, boomerang chick is too busy being independent, brushing off the monk's advances, and being concerned for her brother. That's gay. **** that.
Also, a giant boomerang is pretty cool, but theres seems to be some point in the show where every villain afterwards just dodges it and she's useless for the rest of the show. That should be changed.
They're relatively close I think, but I do believe that the reason why they aren't closer is that they didn't want you to feel like Kagome's best friend is Sango when the whole point of the series is for Inuyasha and Kagome to be close. As far as learning about wilderness or self defense or medicinal herbs, Kagome learned all of these things from Kaede. And as far as "talking about boys" this tends to take the form of Kagome chatting "coyly" about Inuyasha with her school friends during her brief returns to the present. And Kagome teaching modern things to Sango? Dude, you know she brings **** from the present back all the time, right? Usually it's just food or a bike, but who cares. MP3 players and stuff would detract from the function of the wilderness. And fashion clothes and makeup? You do know that Sango herself has two standard outfits, one of which incorporating a much more fashionable kimono? Oh and I do believe she wears makeup even in her demon slayer armor, but ancillary searches have turned up only images of her wearing makeup in her other outfit. Kagome on the other hand has only one outfit and wears no makeup ever. Also, it sounds like you're wanting Sango to go with Kagome to the present. This can't happen, since it's an established rule that only Kagome and Inuyasha can pass through, even though it makes absolutely no sense at all. I do agree that the conflict involving her brother is really freaking stupid though.

The problem with Holy Chick is that she's all "oooh look at me, I'm all like IMMORTAL and HOLIER THAN THOU and I'm a good guy but MYSTERIOUS". Cut the crap, lady. I know somewhere under that look of serene boredom, there's a human being.

Holy Chick just doesn't have a personality period. She doesn't tell stories to children, or play games, or hang out with people being a nice person in general. All she does is stay to herself, hidden and only associating with people if they need help.

What would be interesting is if when they meet Holy Chick, she's leading a completely new life in a remote village under a new name and everything. She still remembers everything, but I mean, when you die, you should MOVE ON, you know? Not get all caught in how you were betrayed and stuff. I mean, the past is the past. I bet she's actually an overly cheerful girl.

                    Next: Kagome
A human underneath? You know she's just animated soil, right? And her soul is incomplete as well due to Kagome stealing it back. Doesn't have a personality? She has a bit of a personality (as expressed during her times when she has tried to settle down and have a decent normal life even though she's basically living ****ing dirt), but if she had too strong of a personality, it would be illogical given that the soul she has is part of Kagome's soul, meaning that realistically, only one of the two characters can have a stronger personality. And yeah, you definitely haven't seen many episodes, because she does do some of the things you said she never does. The only times she wouldn't do those things are when she's stuck on revenge on Inuyasha, which she apparently drops after a while, possibly having figured out that Naraku had in fact tricked them. Oh god. "she should move on and get a new life" she did this, but her paths crossed again with Inuyasha and company, and I don't remember what happened after that. I think she might have given it up, because she had to steal souls of the dead to maintain her stolen life. "overly cheerful girl"? She would be if what happened with Naraku hadn't happened. It would have been happily ever after with a human Inuyasha.

Listen. If I'm gonna go fall into a well that takes me to a feudal era where me and my best friends fight horrible, powerful monsters, why would I do it in a skirt? Every time?
Seriously, she should wear jeans or something. Her clothes simply aren't proper demon-fighting attire. Even the boomerang chick is wearing combat clothing.
And another thing. Why doesn't she take useful technology for her world with her? It would come in handy SO much. How about a crossbow? They're easier to aim. How about a flashlight or flare gun? How about a can of mace to defend yourself with? There should be an episode where they find a sick child, and she runs off and comes back with penicillin from her world and saves the kid. She shouldn't be so dependent on others to help her. Stop screaming for help every time a monster grabs you.
Also, it shouldn't take 9 billion episodes for her to hook up with Inuyasha. It's absurd.

                    Next: Inuyasha
Crossbow would be a bit extreme, and perhaps, did you ever think that her divine powers are channeled through the longbow as well as through the arrow? In other words, who's to say that a crossbow would give her the same holy arrow effect. Might as well say "yeah bring a handgun to the past and her bullets will be holy bullets". That aside, I agree pretty much. Mace might be a little extreme, and I don't know if I like the idea of Kagome popping into the present for medicine like that, when typically they're roaming the countryside, presumably nowhere near the well that she would need to use to get back. Oh and her outfit, yeah I'd accuse them of doing it for "sex appeal" but they never even show up her skirt what the hell is up with that. The only reason I can see for it is to allow young girls who wear similar uniforms to more easily relate than if Kagome was running around in kimono, armor, or cleric garb like the others.

                    Inuyasha has two major problems.
                    1) He needs to cut his hair. You know, so he looks like a guy. It's really hard for bad guys to take you seriously if you have ridiculous hair like that.
                    2) He's serious, all the time. Most of the time just seriously angry. And then sometimes seriously sad. And sometimes he's just serious and yelling at Kagome to shut up and do something he told her to do.
What Inuyasha needs is a sense of humor. The "comic relief characters" are really bad at being funny at all, and he's so serious all the time. He'd really be a better character if he was more of a trickster that likes making people laugh and insulting the mothers of demons when he's in the middle of fighting them. Right now, it's like...

He needs to stop taking himself so seriously all the time, and have a good sense of humor. I've never seen him laugh in the show before.
If he had short hair, he'd look far too normal. The point is for him to look out of the ordinary. And if they had made him more "heroic", I can only presume that you mean bigger. He's supposed to have the body of like a 16 year old or something, man. And as far as taking things too seriously, he jokes around occasionally, even during fights, but he's serious when he needs to be, which, given the nature of the world he lives in, tends to be rather often. I think what you're asking for is something like Spider-man quipping to his enemies, but that would be a bad idea for Inuyasha. Much more life or death here, even if it's obvious that Inuyasha will never get killed by his foes.

And as for the "you need to do a big one about Naraku" thing. He doesn't need it. He's perfect as is, except for one flaw which is easily expressed in the one sentence that Omega devoted to him. He never dies. That's the one problem with Naraku.
