im debating to see it or not, seeing as i was a huge nt fan when i was younger, and i dont even know much about the movie, but in my oppinion it would need more of a villin such as shredder to draw my attention instead of a bunch of ancient monsters

First movie had shredder
Second movie had super shredder
Third movie was gay, ignore it.
Fourth movie now has winters, no shredder because he's already been defeated twice.

You all do realize that Shredder died in the very first issue of the comic book, right? He blew himself up accidentally after the Turtles demanded he commit seppuku.

The TV show was really, really tame compared to the comics.

Really, Guido? I was born in '88. I was 2 years old when the first film came out. I was 3 years old when the second film came out. The third film is irrelevant because it sucked noodles.

To be blunt, I simply don't remember that far into my childhood. My understanding is that I liked Ninja Turtles quite a bit, as I DO remember having some toys and I do remember the movies from back then, even if I don't remember seeing them in the theatre. Either way, I would like to see this movie at some time, but I won't go out of my way for it. I'll probably catch it in a few years when it gets to TV.

I was under the understanding that this movie is not a direct sequel to any of the live action movies, but if it was to fit into that line, it'd fit after the first movie.

Either way, Shredder would be dead after the first movie and bringing him back for the second live action movie was probably just because they didn't want to bring in Krang or some other TMNT villain I don't know the name of because I was so ****ing young when this was hot ****.

@Mal: What you're saying can be said of pretty much every comic adapted to film or television. They tone it down so it'll appeal to a larger audience, usually children.

Whats really wierd is that the movies called TMNT, and this movie is targeted to kids. It would be so funny if some kid asked me ,"what the heck does TMNT mean?"

It was weird how they did the time-line. In the end, they had a wall of trophies of baddies they've defeated and other such trophies - one such being Shredder's mask, another being the TCRI ooze canister, and the third being the stupid time-staff from the third movie. They however, also have mouser feet poking out of the bottom of the trophy case, so they could have been nods to comic... Considering the TGRI is the company in the second movie that made the ooze, whereas it was TCRI in the comics, if I'm not mistaken.

Also, it was a comic about turtles that had ninja skills. The subject matter was very heavy-handed, and I can see why when they adapted it to the small screen they lightened the tone - the concept of chemically altered turtles that were life-sized, going through teen-angst and studied ninjitsu is a very, very frightening concept.

The movie left me saying, "WTF".
It didn't feel right for me.
Then again, it was made for 8 year olds, not 18 =/

Also didnt help that my girlfriend and I were, "In the mood"..while surrounded by 200 youngins.

Well, it's good that you went a kids movie amarous.

The movie was aimed equally at adults as it was a kids - the adults who remember the comic book/tv series and the kids that watched the new one. They had to balance a careful tone - too dark and you'd lose the kids, to cheesy and you lose the adults. I found the middle ground to be quite acceptable, providing some really funny moments that fit right in. Best example is the smoke pellet, and then you see Raph tip-toeing away.

And next time you and your girlfriend get horny in the middle of a movie, but are surrounded by kids - leave the movie and ****. I think that's worth more than the sixteen you paid to get into the film.

The movie isn't that big of a deal, it's really geared towards kids who follow the new generation series that airs on Fox, although I must admit seeing Raphael and Leonardo finally take their hatred towards each into battle was pretty nice.
