Good song to improve skills with?

I've only been playing off and on for about a week, but I found Euphoria in the Dance category to be a really good starter song to learn the basics on. It's not demanding, and is a good way to learn arrow placement and basic timing.

Story of Snowman and Sunshine Girl is where I went next, and it gave some faster arrows as well as slightly faster tempo changes.

After that.. hmm... I found Secret Zombie Room is a good way to learn streams, and (don't laugh) Go Go Power Rangers is a great way to learn fast jackhammer patterns. FF7 Battle was also useful for learning continuous jumps, and more tempo changes.

Right now, Snowflakes is my practice song of choice, the stepfile is like Secret Zombie Room, but faster and harder.

I still can't FC anything beyond Standard (other than some songs which are mis-labelled, like Bubbleman Stage), but for those who are just starting out the way I did, some of those songs may be of use.

Hmmm when I first started I remember how much I laughed when i played *bbitmario, but for me the turning point was when i could consistently fc Soul Shift. Then I was able to do most easy songs w/o ever playing them before.

After that I then started to try arcade, legend of Zelda mostly untill I finally was able to finish it, not necessarily consistent though and from there went ahead and tried everything.

Well for me to start off with FFR, I actually play Breaking the Common straightaway, through the recommendation of this site from a friend of mine. I don't have any experience with DDR, but I did have some experience on beatmania machines whereby there are 5 buttons and such. I think I scored a 33 or so combo on Breaking the Common, first time playing FFR, and first time on that song too, about a year ago. Managed a pass. And since then, I continued playing that song until I got a considerably good combo (like 200+ combo) and then I moved on to Secret Zombie Room and such. Now I can FC songs like Rondo Alla Turca and Legends. CIA Rave and Delirium being the easiest FC-able for now. I haven't touch any of those standard and beginner songs throughout my 1 year of experience with FFR. This worked for me though, not that sure for others. But Breaking The Common is a good way to start training for streams.

I was completely new on August 14th, and now I think I'm at least decent, so here's my advice...push yourself! Two days after I started I was already done with doing beginner songs and working on FF7. I was pretty pleased with myself when I FC'd it, and then I moved on to other songs...I think I did After Me next (never FC'd but only because of the stupid ending) and then X-Dreamer Final Cut (FC'd once) then Delirium and CIA Rave which I'm working on now. So yeah, playing hard songs makes you better IMO.

What I found to get better is to play a lot for about a month then take up to a month off. Your perfect attack suffers a little but you are able to do what gets you high scores and that's hit all the arrows faster and more consistent but again everyone's sytle is different

I just FCed Secret Zombie Room for the first time and if you look at my joined date, you'd see that I am still relatively new. I found Dendrite a good song to practise on for newcomers to DDR/FFR etc. like me. I first FCed Euphoria, then Salad you Tuesday, then Dendrite and now Secret Zombie Room. On to Breaking the Common or Megaman, something like that. I just like the megaman music :P.
