I'll give you guys mine anyway. P.S. the one I am using is a step up from the one that I had 5-6 months back, too. I am used to using outdated P.O.S.es.

My fast computer is dead, but it's still "slow" it's 2.0ghz with I think 2.5gb ram.

I actually did not spend a penny on this, so I really don't care how it is. I am buying MW3 and BF3 and also buying a new video card. BF3 will be the hard one to run, but it's whatever I'm not a huge PC gamer... yet.

I don't think you really know how fast even a 2.4GHz Duo Core Pentium D is. It's cheap and not that great by today's standards but I can still play every game, boot in under a minute, and experience no lag. My really old 1.6GHz Celeron which looks like Emithith is using is a different story though lol. Still not terrible for browsing the web at all.

Not everyone can afford an OC'd octo-core i7 2600K, "1 terabyte of RAM" and an nVidia Quadro 9001 all superglued to a renderfarm, so we just have to make do with the best reasonable hardware.

I like to think of it as "Holy crap, I'm using a 1980s supercomputer!"

I still don't get how a processor can be turbocharged. It's not an internal combustion engine, doesn't generate waste gases, and receives no benefit from forced induction. There's nothing to increase the volumetric efficiency of, and there's no backpressure to deal with.

A 2600k has four cores. You wouldn't have a single 2600k for a rendering machine. Something like two to four 1100T's or the like. OCing doesn't cost money. Quadro's are worthless garbage and I'm willing to venture a guess that he uses 580's instead (cuda cores galore) on his rendering machine. Not to mention that you, personally, wouldn't need that.
