Call your ISP, ask them to turn off interleaving.

EDIT: uh wait are you guys talking about actual lag or just poor framerate? Does reducing Vista's resource hogging bull**** actually reduce latency or just free up resources to improve framerate?

I use really simple non transparent themes and have used programs to turn off visual effects on vista and ffr still ****s up on my vista.

Also vista has always been more efficient resource wise from windows xp. People are just ignorant.

Vista has never given me any trouble with any gaming, FFR included. UAC was basically the first thing I turned off though, it was rediculously obnoxious having that thing pop up all the time.

Pretty normal information, doesn't really need a warning. Thought there was going to be some overclocking info.

Every party needs a pooper.

UAC was one of the main reasons why Vista lagged, right. It protected your computer from any spyware you might have accidently downloaded, so it was considered more of a chastity belt.

If you have an anti-spyware/virus protection you should be straight.

More efficient, yes. However, it still uses bundles more resources than Windows XP, and sometimes in really stupid ways. Windows 7 improves on this a lot. Microsoft went so far as to claim its minimum requirements were low enough to run on netbooks and old PC's.

Linux is for people who care to learn how to adjust. I learned that the hard way. I still know how to use it, but it's still a pain since I grew up on Windows...

Try Kubuntu or openSUSE. Both use the KDE interface which looks much like Windows.
