Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised. Usually if you start a furry thread, one or more of the following events take place:
- IQs drop to catastrophically low levels
- Troll population rises exponentially
- Flame levels reach critical mass

If you're not interested in reading a gigantic article, here's a summary: Anyone who is considered a "furry" has some degree of interest in or affinity for anthropomorphic animal characters ("anthros.") Of course, the term is used to various ends, and there is no real standardized factor by which you can be judged as a "furry". Some say that you simply need to like the characters to be a furry, others say that you must be really involved or in a certain mindset (the practice of rendering oneself as an anthro creature, or making a "fursona", could be considered an example). As with any sort of fandom, there are a few people who have gone to extremes and become very obsessed and/or do perverted ****. Even so, you shouldn't stereotype: You don't need to have sexual desires for the characters, or see yourself as an animal, or other crap. If you like it, you like it. That's it.
