    Considering that the number of possible cube layouts extends into the quintillions, you're not going to solve a cube by just turning sides randomly over 26 years.

                    The guy wasn't trying to go through every possible combination guys. Regardless of how long that would take, it's still possible to solve it in 26 years by going randomly, albeit very unlikely.

                        It's possible in the same way that Death Piano AAA is possible.

                        Odds are he just wasn't the best problem-solver, and so it took him a lot of attempts until conditions started to fall in his favor with respect to whatever strategies he was using.
