To me, cheating should NEVER be tolerated. It's a really messed up thing to do. I've been cheated on once. Why bother asking someone out if the other someone is going to cheat. Thats what I want to know.

        Exactly.

My view is, just don't cheat. In my opinion IF you cheat... well... your stupid, have issues, or are not loved enough, or somthing. If you are in that boat go seek medical attention... se a psychiatrists or somthing.

you guys are missing the bigger picture, if you love the person you are with, you WILL NOT CHEAT ON THEM. if you do cheat on them, then you dont love the person, and you should not be with them. in that case, you should break up with them and the reason is there is somone else you like more.

What if you love the person but they have fallen out of love with you. Your relationship is only staying together because of the children. Physical contact has stopped. You try to resolve things but your wife will not listen, she adamantly says she will never touch you again and that if you try to leave her she will never let you see your children again.

                  Your choices:

                  - Stay in a loveless marriage where you are saving your kids but are killing yourself emotionally.
                  - Stay in the loveless marriage but cheat, and hopefully manage to keep yourself ok enough to stay in a marriage that your wife does not want to be in.
                  - Break up with her and risk losing access to your children.

Really, can some of you not even consider cheating in that situation, or are you all so embedded in "black or white" scenarios that you cannot realistically discuss the reasons a person cheats, but instead must attack everyone who cheats as a horrible, selfish individual only interested in physical gratification.

Good old courts and Fathers for justice, eh.

Anyway, if you're going to cheat, why even bother wasting your time in a relationship if all you want to do is shag about.

I'm really trying to get at the situations where you DO cheat.

Obviously, you should try to find an alternative to cheating.

However, in the event that it does occur, what would you consider to be the best mode of action?

Own up and explain everything without adding in little things to try and change your partner's mind ("But I still love you more than anything" "But it all happened so fast" etc etc). Then, assuming they've been loyal in the relationship, it's their call and all is fair (Or, as much as it could be at that point).

^Made me laugh for some reason.

If you really just want to "Shag about", Break up with the girl/guy (Whatever your into) and tell her you no longer have feelings for her, he/she would be less hurt this way then finding out your genitalia has been doing the tango with someone else's.

option 1: Be single and sleep with everybody.
option 2: Be in a relationship and recieve love and affection.

choose one lifestyle and stick with it, don't cross them over.

Problem is, the abrupt "I don't have feelings for you anymore" bit is usually a dead giveaway, especially when you find them with someone new shortly thereafter.

I think if someone cheats and regrets it - keep it a secret as there is no need for them to know, it will only hurt them. Hopefully they have the brain to use a condom.
