I think the tags should be kept.

But the ones currently existing should be cleared out, then, after that, only be apply-able by people who will apply them reasonably and correctly and not abuse the system.

I am curious as to why our forum profiles have nothing on them, yet all of the information is shown in a next to a post as usual and our signatures are still visible.

EDIT: whoever is making ****ty tags, can you NOT. That totally removes how effective of a feature it can be

Sounds about right. Bear in mind, all this stuff came in one big package with the upgrade to the VB base code, and working out the upgrades is as much a function of turning off the things that came with it that they don't want, as making the things that came with it that they -do- want work properly.

I was trying to tactfully avoid pointing out by name that not all mods would use the system as it is intended.

we trust in the decisions of the staff. all of them. as of now, normal users have 0 tag access. subscribers and simfile artists can add tags to their own threads. staff can add tags anywhere.

Then maybe you should have a talk with your underlings to ensure that they don't abuse their power they have as a moderator, no matter how funny it may be.

In addition, mods should be on the lookout for out of place tags to remove.

Something else about tags: I would say that they should only really be added if the same tag can be used on at least one other thread. It's pretty worthless to have 50 million unique tags that don't actually do anything as far as organization is concerned.
