No, I agree with Vx on this one. That kid would be permanently shunned for life with major disabilities, he'd have trouble finding a job, a girlfriend, or any kind of social status at all, in essence his life would be a living hell. It may sound coldhearted, but this is one of those cases where you're better off dead.

Indeed. I'm taking the side of Anti and VxDx. The kid would have gone through hell most of his life. The people that probably suffered the most through all of this are the parents. I doubt they find it funny that their kid could have easily won a pie eating contest.

Yes I am, and no, something is not better than nothing. Look at it this way- the US has outlawed cruel and unusual punishment and torture. Which would you rather have- a quick and painless death that is ensured by our bill of rights, or 30 hours of torture first?
