yeah the aim chatroom is a good idea

specforces, everyone here is a geek
the ability to have an interesting conversation does not make one any less of a geek. the fact of the matter is you're in an internet chatroom, it doesn't get much geekier than that. (In case you haven't noticed, i'm not using the term as an insult, i for one am proud of my geekiness )

I agree that the overall treatment of women inside cyberspace is pretty bad. They can't go fifteen minutes without a lewd comment directed toward them, because there ARE quite a bit of immature morons out there.

But don't start dissing everyone that has ever flirted over the internet. Some people do it because it's funny, and, well... I know that, at least in my case, the girl I like most out of any other right now I only am able to contact via the internet (and phone, on the ever so rare occasion).

I guess I just don't like it when people use absolutes, and I know I'm guilty of doing the same myself. I'll try to stop doing that.

The chat mods are on a lot, but the "Kick" needs to kick them for an hour. The idiots just keep coming back.

I very much agree with Specforces, since I am sick of any game that turns into some sort of.. uhh lets say.. "playhouse". So... a simple solution I have is to ignore the little depressing twerps who do this cyber-dating thing. Or you can just not go in the chat and play the game... Its what I do.

i think internet dating is retarted.. you can only truely fall in love with someone after you see how they act.. not how they talk/type... im out of time to talk about this.. but.. pm if you want to talk.. im tired of my opinions creating massive arguements..

I noticed that AIM chatroom thing. I kept getting invites by ppl, but is there a way to make it automatic so you just get an invite as soon as your cpu turns on or something of that sort?

nope, you have to be invited by someone for the aim chatroom as far as i know

It's not the flirting that get's on my nerves. It's the gross display of immaturity and lack of respect towards women. Most of the time the women that visit the site are burdened with random comments of a sexual nature. i.e. "show me your boobs." It's that kind of crap that get's on my nerves. And I do agree with centright that the kick feature needs to kick longer so they have a cool down period.

Yeah, that's more or less what I was getting at, Specforces.

It's not just the FFR Chat...go into any AIM premade chat room and within ten minutes you'll get at least 5 pr0n bots. Chat rooms are quickly degrading from chat rooms into 'Spam and Cyber Rooms'. We need more chat mods, a LOT more, and the kick should keep them out for gradually longer periods of time...right now they know they can just keep coming back, and all it does is piss everyone off with the annoying (and lag inducing) kick animation. Chat mods should also have a temporary ban feature, where they could ban people for a day if they are provoked var enough.

well.. any chat mod that is having problems with a certain member of the site should contact one of the admins so we can handle the banning process... but i do agree with the longer kick out time when people get kicked out of the chat.. its an evolving thing.. we jsut ask for patience..

I think we need an IRC channel... we have enough trustworthy users who could be ops, it would work. You could set up a Java IRC thing for people who don't know how to use IRC, too.

Has anyone been to spinchat (www.spinchat.com ,go figure)? They have kind of a neat way of handling it. They have a few permanent, solid ops, and some temp ops. The permanent ops have the ability to kick people and ban people for a day (or if they restart their computer, either way they get the hint and it takes them awhile to get back in) and do have the ability for a permanent ban. They also have the ability to appoint temp ops, which lasts as long as said person is in the chat, and the temp ops have the ability to kick and no more. This system seems to work really well (although they are very uptight about the rules over there).
