    Hmm...the pink logo.

    Innovative? Yes.

    Pleasing to look at? No.

    *warning - upcoming $0.02*

When millions of people are watching the Olympics on TV, they're probably not going to pause to analyze the artistic aspect of the logo. Its anti-aesthetic quality is the first thing that they will register.

Then again, I don't know exactly how many art critics/connoisseurs actually watch the Olympics. Hurray for them, I suppose.

As for the rest of us, ditching the logo for a more appealing one would be in the best interest (moreso in respect to advertising than to the image of the Olympics). In any case, for most people the event isn't even supposed to be an artistic experience, unless they are of the type that tends to make abstract connections. But that requires thinking, which equals work. And nobody wants that, amirite?

Anyways...in simpler terms (rofl), the logo is a ridiculously ugly work of art. It's (somewhat) refreshing, but likely unnecessary...

Well, I don't think it is that bad. I mean, if I saw it in front of an arcade...or in an abandoned amusement park it'd look perfectly in place.

Have you seen the merch the Beijing Olympics is shoveling out? It's f*cking fantastic. My Aunt brought back a red velvet box of five gold medallions, one for each of their mascots. It was eloquent, with gold lettering on the cover: "Beijing 2008". It showed their pride to be hosting the Olympics.

What do I see when I look at the London logo? CLIP ART I'm reminded of dull stock images left over from Office 95.

Well, they're attracting attention with it. Maybe that was one of the purposes.

If you look closely, it looks like that piece of sh*t logo is anal-raping the other half of the logo. Also, wtf were the designers thinking when they made that, oh yeah they said they "wanted the logo to appeal to the younger audience!" nice going!

Hahaha I see it!! The bottom half, well if you want to look into deeper, you could say that the designers were sick perverts that wanted to send subliminal messages about being anal raped. You can change the perspective on anything if you try hard enough, and IMO there is nothing "deeper" with this image. It was trying to appeal to the younger audience, that is it. Nothing more.
