Personally, my idea of actual words that should be forbidden would be anything racist or degrading. Everything else, including the F word, can stay.

Yeah. For example: n-word used as an insult. Inherently racist (well, some would say not, but I would.) Gay, and faggot, when used as an insult. Inherently heterosexist. And last but not least, retarded. Inherently disparaging toward the mentally handicapped.

Now, who exactly am I offending when I say eff this?

Only the people who want to be offended, and like having a word (and the people who use them) for a scapegoat.

If you're swearing every time you get hurt without thinking, that's just proof that you have nothing better to say to the point that swearing has become a subconscious action.

To me, that's worse than throwing in f-bombs every two words.

Well, I'd agree, but you purposely made the first sentence gentle-sounding, while the second sentence is about somebody being violently angry. I'd say there's a lot of difference there.

The first one was a natural one. It's something I would say often, even when I'm really pissed off.

The second one is obviously exaggerated, but I'm pretty sure the more normal examples are just as bad.

You mean, we're absolutely REQUIRED to swear or else we're lame and suck.

That makes ABSOLUTELY no sense to me. None. Especially because I have never once sworn in my entire life, and I'm just about to turn 21.

Get the profanity out of your system. If you're going to swear for something stupid like banging your toe or knee or whatever on something, then it's become much more than a subconscious act. It's much more likely for it to come out when you really, REALLY don't want it to and I can guarantee there will be at least one moment where it will.

You know what I say about bad grammar / spelling online? People always reply with "ths isnt skool rofl idiot". Well, they're right. It's not school. But, the more you do something, the more it embeds itself into subconscious thought and the more likely you are to slip. Just once is enough. One grammatical error on a paper is enough to dock points. Multiple instances of it can turn your paper into an ungraded assignment (also known as a "0"). To put it into a social example, if employers have a stack of 1,000 resumes to look over and you have even just one grammatical error on your resume, it's enough to throw it out and not even consider it.

Back to the topic at-hand, I wouldn't fine hundreds of dollars, but I would probably go as far as suspension. A school is not the place for swearing. It's an educational facility. Its purpose is to make you suitable for living in society.

I'm almost certain that a school cannot fine a student unless somehow backed by the government.

Does the state itself actually support this? I find it hard to believe that any state government would support such an extreme rule. And if the state government doesn't support it, then what's the whole court thing about? As a matter of fact, how are the fines enforced at all? If it's just threat of expulsion, pfft. I'd gladly leave any school that tries to take my money for things as trivial as swearing.

IMO, someone sue them. There has to be some kind of law against schools fining kids for anything (outside of property damage or the like).
