I don't think they fine you for every single cussword, but fine you for getting caught, really. Fining you for every single cussword that you say in rapid fire is beyond ludicrous (As if this new rule isn't ludicrous enough already).

It really isn't hard to avoid cussing. The only time I ever cuss is when I physically injure myself. Other then that, my vocabularly is adequete enough to provide me with words to use instead of cuss. I'm in concurrence with your school's policy.

I can understand suicidal tendencies. Do they give you citations or other unreasonable punishments for saying one cussword?

You're missing something here.

1) Instead of helping out with their suicidal tendencies, they make the problem worse by saying "Get out. NOW."

2) Students pay tuition in advance. Tuition is thousands of dollars a year. Thousands > $500.

Personally, if I were a teacher, I'd allow it maybe once. Never again. Swearing only proves that you have a limited vocabulary.

I've never once said a 'bad' word in my life. Never. You can even check all 11,100 of my posts as of this writing and you won't find a single 'bad' word.

Our school is like... 50/50.
Some teachers are like "omg don't swear" and others are like "get your ass in your chair and get the hell to work" and stuff.
And then I've said f*ck in front of my math teacher I dunno how many times, and she's clearly heard, and she doesn't give a damn (she happens to be an awesome teacher though )
That's weird though.

Most kids here agree with me when they say that it doesn't feel right when cuss words aren't there. We don't see them as vulgar and cool (except the 6th graders and a select handful of midgets), but ways to add more emphasis to a funny or upsetting situation. Now, I can understand if they hate it, but do they really need to rob us of necessary money? Besides, the office referrals are supposed to be signed by the parents, so I don't see why the district feels that they absolutely need to fine us for the smallest act of misbehavior. If the parents don't stress it enough, and they keep getting caught (And if the teachers even care that much), they'll eventually just be sent to the opportunity center.

Basically, I understand if they don't really tolerate cussing, but there's no way that it justifies $500 dollar fines for cussing.

edit: Squeek, you've seen that I have a decent vocabulary, and I still cuss. It just helps me express myself more or adds hilarity to some jokes.

Maybe we're crazy liberals up here in Canada, but all of my profs have used profanity at least once during class.... one of my profs is especially fond of them and she just used the F-bomb today. Nobody bats an eye.... no one cares.

Not related, but cool: we have no dress code. At all. That means anything legal is fine, which means you can come to class wearing only a garment that covers your genital area.

Course, 3/4 of the year it's too damn cold to do that, but whatever.

You think saying "darn" twice in a sentence is somehow "better" than using a variety of words to express what happened?

Also, keep in mind that "darn" is just a smidge below "damn", which is just a smidge below "****", which is.... etc etc. It's all a sliding range. There aren't these words that are just inherently wrong, and the rest are okay to use. Any word can be offensive depending on the context - certain words shouldn't be limited to being offensive no matter what, while you can tell someone their mother is ugly... is that okay to say? Isn't that offensive?

Sorry if this doesn't make total sense, I'm a bit tired, but I hope you can see what I'm saying.
