I try to hover around 700. Usually I max out at 720.

The fastest I have ever read comfortably was 735.

To show how fast you can play a song. I am pretty sure it also tells how good you are. The faster you are able to read a song, the faster you can hit the arrow, and finally, the better you are at the game.

Sounded more like you were trying to make a generalisation rather than a statement about yourself. =\

Anyway, I'm at C650. Most comfortable speed for me. I can read a little bit faster than that, but I wouldn't do as well as I normally would.

i think that an high speed increases your MA, but the skill of the player absolutely do not depend from speed. i personally increase my speed month per month, and i have passed from 400 (september 2005) to 775-800(actually).

I can read 1300.

I play on 900 because 1300 is so difficult and impossible to time, I get mostly greats/goods. Up to about C1100 i can keep a combo on easier songs, C1200 I can pass harder songs and do ok on easier songs, C1300 i can pass easier songs.

I could probably do like 1400 or 1500 on DDR originals or something if I played them a few times to get the patterns down a bit.

Reading speed has nothing to do with how good you are at stepmania. While there does seem to be a trend of people who can read fast are good, being able to read fast is not required to be good. Hayden reads like C600 or something and he is absolutely nuts at stepmania. And I can read really really fast but my timing is (for some unknown reason) really bad. It doesn't even feel bad to me, but stepmania tells me it is

Anyways, you do have to be fairly good to read fast, but just because you read slowly doesn't mean you aren't a very skilled player.

It only feels like your timing improves when you up your Cmod a little because the visual timing window widens. But really, if you practice more, you'll find that you can get just as good as everybody else in a range of something like C520-C650. You don't need to go that fast.

I read on C633 and anything I can't read at that speed is something I couldn't hit anyway.
