    Re: Copyright infringement

"Buyer Beware". With the media nowadays, everyone knows it's wrong to use or distribute songs without an artist's permission.

Thats what i am talking about. people here are distributing the song with out artist permission. I dont know this for sure, but there is no way a top-selling artist would allow distributing with out a big humungus price

          Re: Copyright infringement

There's no "cruelty" involved. The simfile warehouse isn't even part of the game. They're for use in StepMania, a DDR simulator, which is commonly used for playing songs copyrighted by Konami, anyway. People decide to misuse the uploading feature. Maybe that's the cruelty you're thinking of. Either way, I highly doubt FFR is going to lose a lot of users for it.

If you choose to download any illegally distributed files from the database and then decide you're going to blame someone for it, blame whoever uploaded it. The only way the administrators of the site participated was providing the means, which is in no way wrong. What are you going to do, sue Tylenol because it's possible to abuse?

            Two things.

1). The odds of the RIAA actually getting off their fat asses and actually doing something about this is VERY low.

2). It's their fault for being ignorant.

                Here's one more suggestion.

                Grammar and punctuation.

                    Re: Copyright infringement

                    Okay.

From what I know about this... both parties are right. Now I'm not saying that you're both wrong, but you're both right.

                    1) RIAA will not get their lazy asses and search the ENTIRE internet for simfiles. There are too many for one to go through.

                    2) Secondly, I think it's promoting the music. I mean, if you put songs like Black Eyed Peas and other top artists into a rhythm game, I think it puts a little bit more insight onto the genre they represent.

                    I think it's a win-win situation with it's downflaws...

Hey, your spelling is not all that great. it is "incouraging" me. Also, not the point.

finally, someone is realizing what i am trying to say. Even though it is promoting songs it is still illegal, and this the point im trying to get at. i want people to relize some of this stuff is illegal. and female i do not appreciate the crap you are giving me.

                          Okayy.. we get that.

However, do the artist knows this? No. That's where we're wrong. Also, on that note, promoting is good, and artists always want promotions.

Like I said, win-win situation with it's downfalls...

                            Re: Copyright infringement

I mean really....all you have to do is NOT download them. Also, the only way that they will even consider sueing anyone is if someone respectable reports it. Do you even know how many sites there are where you can just download free music whenever the heck you feel necessary? How do you think they get away with it? Because first off, no one besides the artist, cares enough to just search the web for the simple pleasure of getting someone in court. Then there's also the fact that the sites arent as big as Napster and when they dont get a lot of attention there is less of a chance that anything will happen. The only thing you need to worry about is that if/when FFR gets soo big that everyone knows about it that someone might notice it somewhere stuffed in the corner maybe. Also, not everyone who uses FFR actually downloads those things anyways, infact im sure that most of them dont.

I do. I download music all the time.

Usually, I get songs that I know, or have already have rights, like DDR songs... and usually, that's about it.

Oh, and lovely scenario slipstrike. If/when. Hahah.

                                Re: Copyright infringement

I am glad this is now gotten through, promoting or not, RIAA finding or not, it is something artists are going to sue people for even if this is promoting. Besides, does Black Eyed Peas need more Promotions. i am not trying to anger one here at all. i want to Chit-chat isnt the reason we are here?

People use simfiles and as this site grows, which it does alot, people are going to use simfiles i mean there alot of downloads for the simfiles and for the downloadable version for FFR. and people if you want to flame we are not forcing you into this coversation.
