PS all you guys hating on grunge are just being cool because today's trends say it's cool to hate it. I used to be really into Nirvana, and I still enjoy their songs from time to time. The style of music and look of the band was revolutionary at the time, and paved the way for THOUSANDS of bands that you probably like today that don't even come close to falling in the grunge genre. Then again you have the people who are like "OMG NIVANA BEST MUSIC!" it just wasn't, it's mostly 4 chord progressions with first level metaphoric lyrics. Still, good music, and you haters are just too scene to handle yourselves.

Yeah, who deleted like half of this thread? Come on now, it was mostly relevant.

Trust me, the posts I deleted were not related.

I can't believe there's a thread about this in CC. Move PLZ. This is probably what hydro was talking about.
Grunge probably did pave a path for most of the CRAP we hear TODAY.
That's why I hate Grunge. There were some good songs, but whatever happened to the stems of the tree?
They're homosexual. Grunge inspired unsightly appearances and horrible vocalists. This is where we get EMO. A bunch of fags dressed up like Kurt Cobain with make-up on singing HORRIBLY and making one-riff songs. That's what we got out of your paved path, Fish, a street filled with hookers that the City Streets/Parks/Community Service/What Have You Services don't even care about cleaning up. There are good bands today that get no attention paid because everyone is getting busy with the whores on Grungey Street.

RE: Re: RE: GRUNGE LIVES ON!!!!!!!

I miss grunge. Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are two of my most favorite bands. Simple-ish riffs, awesome vocalists and lyrics, and most the grunge bands had good drummers (which is always nice). To this day, Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder have some of the most powerful voices in all of rock.

But the thing is, I loathe Nirvana. It's funny to me the poster band of the grunge music scene, I hate, while I like quite a lot of the other bands in the genre.

As for the whole emo thing, I suppose there's truth that grunge did kind of lead INTO emo, but I blame most of than on Cobain. He was one of the first whiney singers that was the front man for a guitar-based music group. The fact he was emotionally unstable and yet considered cool by the kids that listened to him means that a lot of people will think it's cool to be a whiney pussy.

Grunge was a fad. Fads go in circles. It'll die again.

And believe me, grunge being dead is how God wants it.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: GRUNGE LIVES ON!!!!!!!

I highly recommend never lumping an entire genre of music as "crap". As much as I don't care for R&B and Rap, I have to admit there has been a song or two that's caught my attention. I used to lump "metal" with the stigma of it being devil music. Now it's one of my favorite genres.

I could suggest a few good songs by Soundgarden and Pearl Jam (and ONE by Nirvana... the only song of theirs I like is Heart Shaped Box.) I'm not sure how many people would listen, but there's stuff out there worth hearing.

I never really like grunge. I have like one Nirvana CD I got for christmas and I think I have listened to it a few times. I am more into the Hardcore/Metalcore stuff. It's not really devil music. Most of these HXC bands are actually under the christian category. Look at Zao They are a christian band. Why does everyone think it is "devil" music. There is nothing devilish about it. Just a lot of moshing.

                          Punk is good too

I would hardly say that most hardcore is under the Christian category. Most of it isn't religiously affiliated. Zao is good stuff btw.

Grunge is awesome. Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, all of it is great music.

And Mindfield's, you're retarded. There's one difference between grunge musicians and the terrible rock musicians of today: A lot of the grunge musicians actually had some kind of talent.

Erm, I don't think I'd say hardcore is any better than grunge.
