My eye doctorS (notice the plural) said LASIK surgery is a scam. Apparently I have a higher chance of ruining my eyes forever rather than correcting them so they still offer me glasses which I never wear.

I looked at a less expensive place, but TLC seemed the most...comfortable. Besides, I have a lifetime guarantee. If I do need glasses later on down the line, I can just make an appointment. I think that is worth the extra two-thousand or so.

My eye doctor reccomended that LASIK thing. I said no, simply because I thought it would hurt like no tommorow. I simply was staring at the sun one day and I saw everything clearer. Weird isnt it? Looking at the sun at noon can really change your eye color too. ^^

1) Eye doctors make money off of you having bad vision. LASIK is done by people other than your normal eye doctor and with warranties and stuff means you will never need glasses again. That means byebye money for your current eye doctor. I WONDER WHY THE DISAPPROVE!
2) Not wearing the glasses you are prescribed and instead squinting or otherwise straining is retardedly bad for you. Most damage to the eyes is caused by strain, whether it's self-induced strain like squinting and trying to read stuff you can't see or outside strain like the sun being like SUP GUYS to your eyeballs. When I do go without glasses (pretty rare, since I can't see clearly unless I'm inches away from stuff) I don't squint or strain my eyes, as much as I can help it. If I need to read something I stick my face in it, or else I go find my glasses. I don't want to damage my eyes any further. =\
3) LASIK will only get better and cheaper. 10 years ago this was crazy talk. Now it's becoming more and more common. I bet by the time we're old and dying glasses and contacts will be old news and most people will have LASIK done, unless they only need glasses for reading and the like.

And uh, I might get laser eye surgery....later. I really don't mind glasses for now, but I am NOT getting contacts. I simply cannot touch my eye. Everybody says it's easy, but even putting drops in my eyes, they start twitching uncontrollably in self defense and the drops always hit my eye lid and have to float over into my eye. If I seriously tried to put contacts in I would stab my eye and do massive damage. That's another reason I wouldn't go get laser eye stuff done yet, cuz you don't get too heavily sedated and I'm afraid my eyes might twitch around during the surgery and screw things up.

I was really squimish when it came to my eyes too. But really, contacts are a joke compared to what you have to do with laser eye surgery. Right now I have to use three different kinds of eye drops, two of which I have to use 4 times a day, and the other every two hours. Not to mention the fact that they actually draw on your eyes before the surgery.

About the whole twitchy eye deal...they do numb your eyes...and even if your eyes move too much the laser will automatically shut off and restart when your eye is back into a safe position.

I've never really understood what people's beef is with glasses anyway. I actually like glasses. Contacts are way more of a pain than they're worth, in my opinion; and as for LASIK, there's no way I'm going to pony up several thousand dollars (plus inconvenience and irritation) just so I won't have to wear something I have no problem with in the first place.

Out of curiosity, how long is the 'halo' vision expected to last?

Now that I think about it...I dont think I ever really said "hey, I want LASIK." It kind of just happened. Like:

Me: "My glasses are breaking...I dont want to wear them anymore"

Mom: "K....how about Laser eye surgery?"

Me: "Okay?"

Mom: "Jan 10th..lasers...in your eyes. GO."

Just so you know, not all eye doctors are very good.
When I was like 5, I went from eye doctor to eye doctor, and apparently my vision was so bad it was possible I could go blind as a kid. There was like one eye doctor who I went to that didn't reccomend Surgery, when I was 5.
I can see now (I need uber thick glasses, but still).
It's quite nice wearing ENORMOUS Glasses.
