Also, O2Jam is total BS compared to IIDX.

To be honest, O2Jam is a shitty piece of... shit. The songs are garbage and the charts are beyond terrible - there's no way to increase difficulty past a certain point legitimately due to the way the game is set up, so every hard song is just a mass of incredibly gay freezes and idiotic patterns at a fast BPM so the timing window is smaller. The easier stuff, with the rare exception, is garbage too. Have fun doing random streams that only go to the music because they put random, shitty sounding keysounds on them. Seriously, a lot of the keysounds sound like MIDI. Did I mention the timing? The timing is so bad - it's absurdly easy on slow songs, and way too tight on faster songs. A vast majority of the music sucks balls - 0x1311, %10, and Death Moon are the only songs I would actually listen to outside of the game.

Lately they've been licensing IIDX songs so they can be even lamer. Too bad playing IIDX charts without scratch on a keyboard is the shittiest thing ever, and their difficulty would be nil on a cheesy keyboard setup like O2Jam, unless they added retarded freezes (which they probably did, showing how much respect they have for anything they get their grubby little hands on). Not to mention the idiotic Korean MMO idealogy associated with it - hey guyz, better go play 99999999 songs so you can buy a stupid looking hat for your player char. All of the users are massive dimwits who can barely speak English, which is supposedly the official language of Malaysia. Good luck playing any song except Identity normal on the Malay servers, because that's all anyone plays. Ever. If they're not playing that, they're playing some gay song on a speed mod that's either way too high or way too low.

Did I mention that the graphics and interface are terrible? I got sick of staring at the fucking retarded avatars after 2 seconds. The notes themselves look like shit compared to IIDX, the interface is a laggy piece of shit that looks like a joke and makes 8th's interface look like the Mona Lisa, the note explosions are giant, chronically retarded, cutesy theme junk, and the options are confusing and labeled in broken English. Oh, and who could forget all the fucking bullshit American users had to go through before they could use PayPal? Half the people who used PayPal got scammed, anyway. They're making it free now to cover up for their shitty product and the way they've treated customers in the past. The "compensation" is either something incredibly shitty like free skill rings or e-points (did I mention how terrible and broken the e-points system is? Have fun paying 5 dollars for any songs that are actually played) or nothing at all.

In conclusion: O2Jam sucks. Don't play it.

Don't bother with O2Jam. Spit up the 300 or so for IIDX and actually have fun playing a music game for once.

Well. The first time I entered a room in O2Jam and played a real song, the first thing I saw was a pretty green screen where I caught the name "SGX".

That alone was enough.

I honestly like the look and feel of o2jam, but i've never played beatmania so I can't compare the two. I really like the songs, some of the stepcharts are gay. Arch is gay for making gaussian blur that hard. Red Sign is gay because of the freezes. But what are you going to do about it.. just get better.
