i dont know anything about djing, but you can pretty much do anything with a laptop that you can do with a desktop. laptops are portable and powerful, good for college too.

You're a wimp. Real men use turntables, or at least a cd mixer or spinners. Soulseek DJs don't get much respect because by stealing music you don't support the scene..

Seriously, get a freaking turntable! Infact, you can get 2 and use your savings for a laptop thats not the best but does the job for "taking notes" and crap.

So I wanted to buy the laptop last night, but my dad said he had cupons at work. So I decided to wait til today. Well, I just found out that it's more expensive today, and it doesn't have the features I wanted

damnit!

The equivilant system is like 150 more :'(

also, id reccomend searching your local pawn shop (i got my new comp (although it is a desktop) 3 ghz HT, 160GB HD, DVDR+/-RW and CDR+RW, 512mb DDR for 500 bux with screen speakers pretty much the whole setup...)
ive seen laptops with similar, sometimes even better, for about the same price and you could even talk them down on price.
Id reccomend looking there before any major retail store.

(when i dj i lug around turntables mixer amp speakers records (about 10 cases) EQ and other such items)
maybe i should consider getting a laptop o wait...
