Also, please actually buy or look at an iPod before posting. I said the same thing before actually receiving an iPod and then I realized the difference. I didn't have to burn a CD that I would have to split the OST into peices on! I could put all my music on one device instead of 10 CD-Rs! Amazing!

It's not until you own an iPod until you realize how amazing the convenience really is. The site Jewpin listed (Maddox is meh, Maddox impersonators are completely unfunny) borders on absurd in its arguments. A Discman has 0 music storage. Absolutely 0. That's why you need CDs - they're what store the music. CDs hold (4 minute song length average) 20 songs, tops. That means that an iPod can hold roughly 500 CDs. As a person who owns 3 CD wallets worth of music, and even more on my computer, this is extremely useful for me. In addition, most of his arguments against iPods ("a little piece of metal that plays music when you plug in headphones") make it seem like he's not the kind of person who would want a portable music player anyway.

Arguing that a Discman is superior to an iPod is like arguing that a 386 is superior to a Pentium 4.

iPods are for rich people. Everyone has one. There like at minimum $200 to maximum $500.

Mine was completely free thanks to freeipods.com. A free iPod is definately far better than a mp3 cd player.

But Chardish, that 386 is hawt stuff.

MP3 CD players aren't all they could be. They don't display all the ID3 tags the way an iPod does, they can't really double as an external HDD, and it's quite incomparable and an inconvenience in the long run.

Say there's a person like me who likes to have OSTs. Some video game OSTs can average 4 CDs long. I can fit one on a data CD and...what else? Maybe some random tracks, but not a whole additional album, that's for sure.

It's just not worth the time to burn or the CDs you'd waste.

I had an MP3 CD player before I bought an iPod. It was lots of hassle for the reasons Squeek noted, and the fact that if you wanted to add a CD to your MP3 collection, it required burning a new CD every time. Burning new sets of CDs to conserve space really wasn't worth it, and I found myself listening to conventional CDs far more.

Wasn't me. I own an iPod. I used it everyday last year. This year, not so much, do to the fact that teachers enjoy flipping the sh*t and taking them.

I didnt want an iPod, it was given to me, but I am glad it was, because it rocks (literally, the joy of puns). Could I live without it? Yes.
