I have nothing against anime *lol duh hence my username* but hell all the kids in my school that like anime are fags, Asian posers, Asian nerds, and basically the kids with no friends. But yes i must agree that anime on "Toonami" is the lowest of anime *hell hentai pictures have better plot lines then some of the stuff on that show* Great animes like TRIGUN!, Full Metal Alchemist, FLCL, YYH, and Inuyasha are some of the greats of our time. If you dont like anime watch them, There are thousands of other great animes but there are a bit too many to list. *I think wolfs rain sucks butt*

Chardish, since you probably can't read Japanese to figure it out, broccoli anime tends to be super-happy shows...such as Digi Charat and Galaxy Angel. It's awesome stuff, though.

Honestly, I hated anime up until a year and a half ago. I really hated it. I was insulted harshly for liking DBZ on Toonami, and even moreso for liking Sailor Moon. So I pulled the plug on that one. Then, my friend introduces me to his close friend, also known as "Cowboy Bebop".

That was back in the summer of '03. LOOK AT ME NOW. Anime is my life, aside from video games and school. I'm constantly seeing more and more because it's SO GOOD. Compare anime to any American TV show. There's a massive difference. American shows are the over-dramatized crap, OK? I don't need an hour of a closeup on someone's face as they make a "tough decision".

I haven't seen an American television show that wasn't dubbed anime since August of 2003. And the only time I broke that was a few weeks ago to see the dubs for Fullmetal Alchemist.

Honestly, if you want to at least give anime a shot, I'd recommend watching the following, non-"big eye and crazy hair and over-dramatized" shows.

Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
FLCL
Ghost in the Shell
MAYBE Fullmetal Alchemist
MAYBE Read or Die. But that's probably too "cutesy" for your tastes...even though it rules on so many levels.
MAYBE Elfen Lied. However, that would be rated R here and you definitely don't seem to be 18.

Give it a shot, see what it's like.
