Firefox VS IE (but we all know firefox owns)

Yes. Having so many browsers suck. Once people stop using IE or microsoft fixes their browser, web designing will become a much easier place to live in.

Though Opera does suffer from some of the same bugs in my site layout as IE does. I can't figure out what's doing that. I asked a bunch of people while I was making it and they all decided that it should be working, but isn't for weird reasons.

I just got firefox. It's pretty nice...I like the tabs. I miss my fast scroller thing though...AND NO IT IS NOT MY COMPUTER...like my mouse has this thing where you click and it scrolls to the top or the bottom fast and it firefox it is slow ...so I cahnge my vote to I like them both...even though I already voted for IE in the polls.

Yeah the mouse-wheel-draggy-thing is different in firefox, but I never used it that much in the first place.. I didn't mind really. I'm more concerned with IE's major problems.

Gmail fails in comparison to my ISP-provided *.net account. I've also heard some bad things about gmail's privacy.

Why wouldn't it work in Opera anyway? I'm sure it would, since Opera has a built-in mail ... thingy... How should I know. I use Outlook for my real email.

I've found Firefox to be a better browser on the user interface side of things. I was happy using IE before. Then I started messing around with CSS and came to hate IE.

Chrissi: Wrap each of your columns in a DIV. Leave the middle one with static (or relative) positioning, and give it a margin (like margin: 0 5em 0 0). Give the side bar absolute positioning; set right: 0, and width: to be the width you gave the margin on your middle block. It works with EMs, pixels, percentages, &c.

I've done the following to get a two-column layout that looks mostly equivalent in every decent browser and IE in my assweb-log-thing:

That -is- what I did though. Absolute for the menu to make it stick to the right, but something's wrong with it that makes the centre area go down. Bah. I will attempt to do what you said but as far as I know that's exactly what I did.

Edit: er, or maybe I didn't... I think I tried it at one point and it screwed up.

Another edit: OH NOW I GET IT!! See, the layout -did- work at one point, then I did something and it stopped working. I never knew what I did... maybe it was this. This kind-of fixed it. IE still isn't happy but it's happier than before.

Another another edit: But this makes the copyright bar and body container come up to the top of the page when the content is too short. Bah. I wish IE would just behave with relative.

No love for Mozilla? I use it as my default browser, and I think I'm one of the few. Most people who have gotten the brains to outgrow IE have gone to Firefox, but I just prefer Mozilla. I don't know why.

Opera. It's like Firefox - suck + mouse gestures. Granted, given the choice I'd still use FF over IE ANY DAY (I can't even look at IE anymore without wincing, and probably 70% of the computers at school have either Firefox or Opera installed on them because of me and my friend and our absolute loathing of it.

But I much perfer Opera now. It doesn't crash anymore like it used to, I've found far less compatibility issues with it than I have with Firefox (Gmail works with 7.6), the mouse clicks are already on there and just work better, I like the interface better, the control scheme, the bookmarking, the status bar...pretty much everything. And yeah, I can get most of that stuff from plugins for FF, but why waste the time looking for them when I've already got them right at my fingertips?

Yeah, I do like a lot of opera's features, but I don't quite like how it's layed out, or how you can have a browser open with no tabs in it... once all the tabs are closed, I want the browser to close. as well as other things. mozilla seems too.. heavy.. or something. firefox is perfectly light weight. for me, anyway
