I've always wanted to learn PIU since it looks like it has some pretty fun charts (plus that's where a lot of the original ITG/Roxor crew went after ITG3 didn't work out, right?), but I've never seen a machine except for at Disney World.

PIU Pro and PIU Pro 2 would have probably been the better location to find those guys. There might be some remnants of the team on PIU Infinity, but I can't say that for sure. They've moved on from PIU to ReRave at this point.

I got to play some PIU for the first time a couple of days ago. It's pretty fun, but the crossovers are still weird for me since I'm so used to double stepping on ITG. I don't know if it was just the machine I was playing on, but judgement seems pretty easy on PIU.

Yeah PUI requires quite a bit of crossover knowledge due to the format of the pads and charts themselves. Even some spins in regular Pump charts outside of Pro.

I'd never use FFR as a replacement for a pad-based game. Totally different beasts.

The timing window is indeed easier on PIU, but they added a "PRO mode" in Infinity that makes the judgement closer to ITG.

was there ever a major difference between DDR and ITG timings?

It almost felt like ITG was easier timing-wise simply due to faster refresh rate, or maybe my mind is playing tricks on me

Well me personally, I want to be able to play on expert in DDR before i start ITG or PIU. I mean, only recently did i AA Cartoon heroes on Standard (Which was mine and my buddy's goal for like 3 months).

iirc DDR actually has smaller timing windows, around 80% or something like that.

Timing is MUCH easier on ITG than on DDR. I can barely AAA anything on DDR but I can SDE on ITG without much problem.

I play sometimes.
best AAA: 4ft (Heaven, light, ddr extreme2 i think)
best AA: 9.5ft (Sakura heavy, plenty other 9s)
best A: 10ft- horatio expert
best pass: 11ft? Pluto expert (ddr x)
