The thing about apple juice is that it's loaded with sugar, so don't drink it too often. Orange juice (or any citrus juice) is a much better choice for juice. It may be okay in moderation, but not every day. I've already made a bad habit of this kind of thing myself.

-Reorganise my photography files and how I name them. [Expected to take at least 8 months]
-Reduce what I put on my network drive and replace it with more music and some of my photo albums for quick access. [Could take awhile depending on how well I do #1]

yes really. not saying every single person that makes them won't follow them but i would bet an overwhelming majority can't follow through with what they want to change after about a month. (ESPECIALLY WORKING OUT/FITNESS/DIET)

side note (not directed at anyone on this site) but waiting for the new year to make positive changes in your life (that could have been done prior) has always agitated me. I'm all for people working towards a happy/successful lifestyle for themselves but why wait? If people did earlier you'd have that much of a head start in the right direction.

I completely agree with you actually. That's why mine aren't really changes, because I wouldn't wait for a certain date to change. I do it as soon as I feel I need to.

Exactly same here. I mean I completely get if someone wants to do well in school for an upcoming semester or something along those lines but saying "I'm gonna lose weight and workout" is completely unacceptable if you have to wait for New Years to do that.

Having a dream is one thing, pursuing it is another. Most don't do the second, and I don't tolerate laziness.

I use it as a kind of 'phase system', as in, this year I'm going to work on this, this year I'm going to work on that. I can't change myself in one step, that would be amazing but impractical. It's the small things you have to change bit by bit. Using a fresh year to measure the start of a new phase is the easiest way to remember when you started. Sure using a date like the 4th of July would work, but there's a certain feeling people get when they're doing something alone. Being part of a bandwagon does help people get over it, even if most people don't follow through with their resolutions.

edit; and like anything, if you don't actually want to do it, you're not going to do it. Plain and simple. That's why it's probably better to stick to 2-3 of these lol

As for me, I plan on keeping constant reminders to myself of what my resolutions were, and keeping tabs on my progress. Last year it didn't work, but the year before that I was really proud of how much I worked. The process seems a bit hit and miss, but when it hits, it's incredible.

You might as well argue the rationale of celebrating the New Year altogether. It's a common Western tradition to set goals upon the start of a new year. So what? I highly doubt an obese person uses the logic of waiting around until the next year comes around to decide to lose weight...that's ridiculous. People are merely listing things they would like to achieve and there's no harm in it. Denigrating someone for participating in a harmless tradition is egotistical.
