Some kind of sense, yes. The ending can be summed up as "emotionally satisfying, but intellectually insulting."

Spamming a bunch of montages together and playing up a purgatory theory that had lingered around since S1 is not a well-written ending. It's a cheap failsafe -- lazy writing.
