This isn't like "what is a random wish you want granted." Playing the lottery is not a huge risk anyone is afraid of taking on out of fear of failure. Exploring the Milky Way is not even possible for us yet, so that's not a risk you've decided to not take.

Maybe I should rephrase the question this way instead:

Pretend you have a time-travel device. One-time-use only. You can now take that huge risk you've always been avoiding. If you **** it up, no biggie -- you can always jump back to your old life the way it was. What risk would you take?

The possibility of failure is what makes things satisfying when you succeed. If I knew I was going to AAA a song before I played it, I'd be far less satisfied then if I tried it, maybe blew it a few times, and then got it. One possible outcome isn't fun.

i disagree. i'd rather have the guarantee of being wildly successful at everything i attempt. one of my friends said something similar, "learning is half the fun." but again, i'd rather just know everything and kick ass constantly.

You're looking at a boring life then...

Being successful in some things reveals the potential of what one is capable of doing and how far one can go. If you can't go farther just because you are successful at everything, what's the point in living?

Failure is something one must accept in certain circumstances. It's really hard to explain, but overall, I think my "failures" made me realize a lot more about myself and inevitably, better myself as a human being.

so considering that there is something we'd say is enormously risky, we have to assume that all risk is removed.

i don't think i want to do anything terribly risky, to be honest. there is a mistake in the past that i would like to correct, and probably something i would do in the present just because "i can", assuming this time travel thing works.

your original question didn't involve time travel, of course. so i fall back on not wanting to do anything terribly risky.


@iironiic: it may seem boring, but i have my reasons, and it's just my preference ;p

I think I'd stick with what I was getting at in my post, still. I would probably gtfo of where I am, and start stuff over elsewhere. It's just not...reasonable right now tbh I guess.

The idea is to get at what goals in life you're interested in but aren't necessarily pursuing because you feel like you risk losing something. So this question is asking what you'd do if you could magically undo any loss that was incurred by taking that risk.

But your answer's fine if you're already pursuing your goals, really. XD

oh **** this is a good question right now

I would
A) punch my mom in the face, and then reset back before I punched her. I am totally pissed off at her right now and I don't want to face the repercussions for it. (I probably would feel bad about it some day later down the line)
B) move the hell out of this place and get a job and support myself
C) I would start freelancing for my graphics, because this shit is getting easier for me to feel good about doing
D) confess my feelings to this one girl I've known for a long time

if this was a question about stuff that I would fix from my past then I have a lot of crap to write right now
inb4 people bitching about what I said in A)

edit: a few fun ones I thought of that aren't necessarily about life goals was
A) rob a bank, take the money and do something awesome with it like spending it on a vacation or something
A2) rob a bank and see how long I could last running away from the cops with it
B) open up a cake shop that only sells cream filled cakes, but instead of cream I would fill it up with mayo to see everyone's reactions
C) go into a police station and shout "I CONFESS!!!" or something along those lines
D) live out my life for a week, reset it, and try to live it better
D2) live out my life for a week, memorize it, reset it and then act psychic about everything that happens

Oh, I understand now! I am pursuing my mathematical goals and I am thoroughly enjoying the journey so far, but there is always a little part of me that is interested in performing vocal music (not choral-like but rather Jason Mraz style). I haven't invested much time into music since I have always seen it as a hobby of mine, but I've always wondered how far I can get in the music industry. I do remember making a huge choice between music and math before I entered college (and I kid you not, it was a VERY hard decision for me haha).

There is also this goal of mine to move out of the states and live in Europe so that I can experience and understand many different cultures. I am currently putting this goal on "hiatus" since I am still too young to consider attending school outside of the US. Although it is tentative and from the looks of it, highly unlikely haha, I will say that my top choice for math graduate school is located outside of the US. I suppose I am indirectly trying to make this goal happen haha.

EDIT: So really, to answer your question; Pursue the musical career and see how far I can go. Also, try and achieve my goals in the future.

I'd probably quit my current job then and go after a life of becoming a pro-gamer.
