You're pretty vague about what the essay's asking you to do, and I also don't know how well you've read it.

Figure out the core idea. Branch out from it your reasonings or whatever you're trying to explain. On a scrap piece of paper, write it out like a flow chart. Visualizing it might help you get your thoughts more organized than staring at an unfinished paragraph, or heck, even a list of ideas. When you make it visual, you can physically see what's "missing". Anyways, do this quickly, then figure out which order to present those ideas in. Afterwards, spit it out.

Well alright, let's look at the first topic.

Why did Ayn Rand name her main characters "Prometheus" and "Gaea"? Compare the historical myths of Prometheus and Gaea to the lives of these two characters.

In this case, it might be better to visualize using a quick chart with two columns for the two characters. Then:

I have my topic sentences, thesis statement, all that, I really just need to fill space with relevant information at this point and use big words.

edit: 338 words in, am jumping around through each paragraph each time I hit a mind block. The introduction is done, and the conclusion is nearly there.

For the second question though, I would do more of a flow chart. The idea to focus on is the invention itself. From there, get your reasons as to why it may be considered a "threat". Find the reason that appears to have the most weight and use that as your first body paragraph. Go on from there in decreasing order of importance.

From the flow chart onwards, I would also list background information on the setting and situation at that point in the story. Infuse background knowledge on the "council" as well as the situation in the world the character lives in. List (if any) personal freedoms that are taken away, differences between the story's society and reality, and other things like that.

Also, since the character's name is Equality (just going on a hunch here, not sure if this goes with the novel), it seems like there may be some irony with the naming of this character. Use that to your advantage as well, if it exists.

That's how it usually is, but I'm actually not to sure on this one, (also I have read the book, multiple times now.) She goes all out with this paper, and she grades based on effort, so basically, I need to do a super duper fantabulous job
