yeah i basically came into this topic ready to say that
"Okay, I have to deliver this package to Balmora - but this poor man is missing his ring! Perhaps it is in this barrel - wait a moment, a man has approached me that suspects that man has been withholding a debt payment! If I wait on top of this lighthouse (which has a person who believes there is a murder mystery occuring in the town in it) at midnight, I may be able to catch him hiding the money!"
Three hours later...
"Okay, it would seem everyone in the village is content. Where was I? Oh, right, delivering this note."
REPEAT FOR ALL THIRTY TOWNS/CITIES IN GAME
I would be surprised if I put less than 500 hours into that game.
Exactly... >.< I played that game so damned much that my freakin mom went out and bought me a new game just so I would stop. -.-
Nothing is more fun than finding the 4 100000% jump scrolls. ^_^ Or just making a spell for about 5 minutes of levitate. Makes things about 90874250987x easier.

Pokemon Crystal
Took me 379 hours of gameplay to "GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL"
Maplestory
I don't know if you can beat this game, but my xFire says I have 1829 hours recorded into it >_>
Lost Odyssey for the Xbox360, god dam that is one HELL of a game. 4 discs, took me at least 3 weeks of solid playing. Amazing game though, definitely deserves a purchase for those FF fans.
Years ago, it took me six months to fully complete Donkey Kong Country I. I was not the greatest gamer in the world back then. It was one of my first SNES games. You had to locate all the hidden bonus barrels and such, but some were just blasted hard to find for me back then. As a contrast, when I got DKC2, it took me a week to fully complete. When I got DKC3, I fully completed it in a day.
When I say fully complete, though, I mean getting all hidden bonuses/features/secrets/whatever in a game.
In terms of strictly BEATING the game, though, that award goes to the original Megaman and Bass/Rockman and Forte. I promise you, it will make you rage.
