Never expected this out of an RPG.

I'm being totally honest when I tell you that it WILL get better. Yes, Lloyd is a cliche, but he's hilariously stupid and linear. The other characters comment on that all the time.

After the whole "ARGH I HATE ALL DESIANS TEHY R SOOOOOOOOOO BAD!!!" thing, it gets better.

Also, you really, really need to play Xenogears. It is the best game ever made, and then some.

Xenogears is good, but a LOT of storyline. I haven't completed it, hell, I haven't even gotten to the second disc. However, it's fun beyond belief... for people like me.

Tactics Ogre is a good RPG in my opinion. Their battle set-up isn't the greatest but its not the worse. The story is pretty good and its all based off of what you do and how you progress.

Nobody likes Colette. She's the weakest and stupidest character in the game. However, nobody else in the crew is annoying or uninteresting.

, she was my forth best character. My best was probably Lloyd, then Kratos, Sheena, Colette, Zelos, Presea, Genis, Regal, Raine. I never used Raine, and Regal maybe twice (Including my mania file).

Have you tried mania yet squeek?

I tried mania when I was level 3 and got owned by monsters outside the village.

I tried again at level 93 outside Flanoir and it was no challenge.

My favorite characters, in descending order, are:

Genis, Lloyd, Kratos/Zelos, Presea, Raine, Sheena, Regal, Colette. I only used the first three and Raine for battles, however. I'm saying Colette is the worst due to the sheer difficulty of the Coliseum while playing solely as her. Raine is a little easier due to the healing ability, but it's still quite hard. Regal was next in difficulty, and after him it was just far too simple.

PS - So far I'm an hour into Xenogears and not seeing this amazing story, but I'll keep playing.

Tales of Symphonia was, in my opinion, the most awesome game I have ever played. (I was just getting in to my third time through on 10x EXP gain, but am currently slacking off on it due to college/simfile work.) First of all, the storyline. While it may be your generic save the world/"Mana" type storyline on the surface, there's so much more to it than that. The game contains a deep, rich, intricately woven universe the likes of which can be found in few other RPG's of its kind. I mean, in some RPG's the game puts you in a world that's just kind of "there," but it doesn't really do anything. In other games, the world is given its own functionality, a kind of real-world operation. It's hard to describe, but while you're playing you get a sense that the world itself is just as alive and active as the characters in it are, a sense of overall activity. To me that adds so much life to the game and makes it much more captivating. It's true that there are some rather cliched story elements in there and that the story itself may be rather cliched. I also feel that the game is somewhat lacking in the ability to create a strong, focused sense of purpose. But when I look at the storyline as a whole, I think it's one of the best stories in its genre ever written.

Next, the characters. While they are pretty stereotypical, I don't think they're as bland and uninteresting as they are merely static. They do have interesting backgrounds and personalities (most of them) and I enjoyed watching them develop and expand in the dialogue. There is a lot of dialogue, but I'm the kind of person that enjoys dialogue in video games, even when there's this much. I'm a big fan of "getting into the characters" when I play RPG's. Anyway, there's also several lessons that can be learned from the characters' dialogues, especially in the Derris Emblem sequence. I enjoy seeing that implemented in video games.

Finally, the battle system is awesome. I love the technical system, the fact that you can level up past 100, and especially the Grade Shop, which rose the game's replay value by several hundreds of percents to me. It can't be compared to anything else. There's too much to praise about it that I don't even have time.

Anyway, before I'm far too late for my next class, let me sum up by saying that this game has surpassed Final Fantasy VII as my most favorite game of all time. Feel free to argue, but my opinion stands.

They are supposed to make battles true 3d and not targeting on a 2d plane, and fix the camera issues.

I don't know if it is to be a sequel since making a sequel of THAT is kinda...impossible.

Yeah...unless it's the story of Lloyd gathering all of the Exspheres in the world...but that doesn't really sound like it would make for a very good game...

It's obviously not going to be a sequel. None of the Tales games are connected in any way except for the usual series references and the like. One of the reasons that I don't like ToS is because all these noobs who have never played a Tales game before are playing it. They don't even know about the other games in the series, which are, by the way, all far superior to ToS. If you haven't played at least Tales of Phantasia, do so immediately. I suggest playing Tales of Destiny and Tales of Destiny 2 as well. Tales of Eternia is supposed to be good as well, though I have not played it. Note that ToE = ToD2 in America. The real ToD2 is for the PS2.

It sounds like Tales of Legendia will just rip off Star Ocean's battle system.

Now, I haven't played ToS, but I obviously love the Star Ocean series. Anyway, I've heard that ToS's battle system is a lot like SO. Is that true? And, which do you like more: Tos or SO(either the second or third one)?

Star Ocean 3 is far superior to ToS in every way.

SO2 is about the same as ToS - Great battlesystem, horrid plot.
