It bothers me how people put the simfile artist in front of the song title for the folder. It would be much cleaner to remove it entirely and have a readme for more in depth information.

They do the same thing for anime subs. They put the translator group in front of the series title as if that is somehow more important to sort by.

I actually like it, since it makes it really obvious who stepped the song once you're inside the folder (the readme is useless in that case). For that you could also have the stepartist after the song, just a matter of taste there. It's also really useful if you're the type of person who likes to group all their files by stepartist. If you just had the song name, that would take much more work. And the readme is a good idea until some pack organizer gets lazy or forgets and you have no clue who stepped what

I assume your problem is that you have more trouble finding a particular folder in the pack, right? When I actually need to search for a song I can just use the folder search function, which I'm pretty sure exists in Windows, Mac, and Linux. It's not quite as easy as just being able to look at it, but it's not nearly annoying enough that I want to get rid of the stepartist info.

I'd be ok with putting the stepartist after the song name so that the folder would sort by the name of the song instead. If the artist is there at all you could just go to your outer most song folder and explorer search for the name and get a list of every file.

The reason I want it to sort by song name is because when I go to a folder to look for a particular song I generally start typing the name until it selects it. I do this with everything in windows. It just doesn't work of the name starts with a username in brackets.

I've always done it this way. I'd rather credit the simfile artist before the song. It's just another way to organize things and isn't really a big deal.
