Just look for songs you like. If you are not familiar with the game, read the FAQ. It will save you a lot of time of frustration.

Or is there no such thing as a "good" beatmap versus a "bad" beatmap, and it's all based on the songs you prefer?

Well, there are "good" and "bad" maps from a technical perspective; spacing, pattern choice, use of tracks, rhythm, etc.. But some maps that people hate others will love. So from a fun perspective, it's up to you.

Ok. Went through all 51 pages, just nitpicked all the songs I liked. Got a good 75 songs... now to play with a mouse mouse. =(

Wtf... spinning does not work with laser mice. damn.

I wish there was an easier way to tell how fast sliders go...

I watched the top replays, a lot of which are with mice. Their spinner results are awful. They'll barely get 3000 bonus, whereas I'll be able to manage a solid 15k with my tablet.

Although this looks pretty damn good, I've barely started the DS EBA game so I'll probably stick to that for now.

Not to mention I prefer using a stylus than a mouse and the whole portable aspect of course.

Sorry for the bump, had to revive this when I saw it.

I'm actually a member of the beatmap approval team, which essentially decides which maps get an online leaderboard, fixes other maps, decimates the utter rubbish, etc.

For recommended beatmaps, try the ranked beatmaps. On the forums, there are also beatmap packs of video game music, anime music, INTERWEBNETOSPHERE music, or packs of the ranked beatmaps. The early maps, though, are the only ones you should probably avoid. Just because they're bad.

Many mouse players suck at spinning, but recently, I've been getting at least 8k with my spinners. Laser mice tend to spazz, though, so I'm hoping that my new mouse gets in soon.

As for past scores? Here are some very few examples.





Black Sheep can be SS'd eventually, along with Sorairo Days. Once I get my new mouse, I'll be able to be more accurate on Morning Glory. Rocket is only good after you've seen what kind of bear it is. I'm rank 4 on that song right now due to not FCing, and if I did FC, it would've been number 1 (accuracy was better than the number 1 score). Also, excuse the last huge-as-hell screen.
