Okay. Just tried downloading something and it worked just fine.

Running FF3 on XPPro, firewall and VP on, latest version of Winrar, I believe.
I'll try on my PC and alternate laptop shortly, all specs will be the same.

EDIT: Both worked fine downloading, HOWEVER, when I tried to unpack it on my other laptop, I got something saying something along the lines of "File Part XXXXXX is corrupted, etc." Downloaded the same song on all 3 computers, btw.

i've tried using winzip and winrar... so one instance of winzip shouldn't be the issue. version 9.0 on my winzip.

Well, on my dad's computer I got all the songs I wanted, so I'm good. I guess rather than finding a solution, we find another way around. Like I said, use another computer or laptop to download the songs or Limewire if all else fails.

7-zip or renaming as an .smzip works

7-Zip may work, however SMZIP and ZIP are basically the same thing (SMZIP is just a different file extension) which is why you can open SMZIP files using Winzip.

SMZIP is more convenient(Sp?), because if you open it with SMTools 9I think) it extracts directly to songs, instead of having to do it manually.

I have had this problem too. I Use Internet Explorer 6, and normally things worked fine. Then about 3 days ago things started going "Corrupted or Invalid". I tried .rar files using winRAR, but I get an error while attempting to extract the files. .Zip Files just don't let me download. .Smzip lets me download but when I try to extract it I get a bunch of gibberish.

Wow I just noticed this too, I have to use a program just to open the Zip or Rar. Downloading is no prob, just opening it is all I'm experiencing.

Using latest version of Firefox and running on XP btw.

I use IE 6.0/Win XP and tested something about this.

[.zip file] - can't open with explorer, can open with winzip/winrar
[.rar file] - can't open with winrar (no idea how to open)

Was able to download a .rar file on windows 98 (P4, decent ram, crappy vid card, etc), and it was corrupted when I tried to unpack with winRAR.

EDIT: IE 6 as well.

I don't know where you guys have been, like half the songs in the DB have been giving me this error since like 2007 or something.

I kinda just ignored it tbh

My error says

The archive is either in unknown or damaged format.
No files to extract.
