feature demand always outweighs effort to implement. besides... it wouldn't be that hard, i don't think. xelius is crazy awesome at this stuff anyway.

but with the MFA and FFRock, don't expect anything anytime soon.

I would prefer a system where players post course ideas in a thread where admins choose to use them or not. In essence, FFR-Wide set courses. Scores can be kept track of this way. Something worth adding to statistics.

EDIT: If I had to choose one or the other that is... If we could do both, then both all the way.

It would certainly be easier on the server-end to just have a list of pre-made courses to choose from. Just the act of having the game remember the whole sequence of songs for each sequence of songs each time a player makes one would add up fairly quickly, especially if you could save a list of them instead of manually making your songlist each time.

if it were to be per-user, it would be capped. and it would be much less stored data than the replay system.

What if there could be a mod that strung multiple songs together that one wished to play without having to navigate after each song? It could be like your own preset list of songs that you could save as cookies, much like the mod window.

Example could be a string of warmup songs that suit your warming up needs...or say you want to play all of the Gaussian Blur series in a row, or the TGWP series all one song after another, or every single FMO in a row, to see how long you can last.

This is much like a marathon like in DDR or ITG, but you make your own song order.

I don't know, just a suggestion.

I wouldn't know the first step into designing anything that's for use on the internet, ...I gave the suggestion in hopes of someone else designing it. Possibly, in words though...

It would go in the top left corner by the songlist, and have a button that says "M" for marathon songs, and then he or she chooses from there and plays.

But wouldnt that put strain on the DB? so many users looking through the courses and not only that having to keep the song string in memory.

Well, if the system as suggested in this thread were implemented, what would probably happen would be something like "Users can save one course of up to 5 songs, subscribers can save three courses of up to 5 songs" or something similar, and you woudln't necessarily be able to even view what courses someone else set up, just have the option to play your own.

The game would presumably just load the whole set of songs in the exact same way it loads the one you want to play now, so it woudln't hammer on the DB at all. The only size issue would be storing all the strings of songs under custom usernames keyed to accounts, and like Tass said, that won't even touch the size of the replay database, especially if users are limited to <5 saved courses.
