doesn't change the fact that we're sacrificing quality for difficulty. you seem to miss that point. that file was terrible. just because you can faintly hear a sound doesn't mean you should put an arrow to it. i get the feeling she tried to make the file as hard as humanly possible.

at this point its his attitude thats pissing me off. "i can't wait to hear the complaints!" is such a ****ing ****head thing to say. you don't know how much that pisses me off.

Mine is accurate to 320 BPM 64ths, and MA'able in SM...should be fine in FFR in terms of music-fitting.

Sert: Do explain a way to have difficult songs without sacrificing this "quality" you speak of. From the way you've been talking, it sounds impossible, and if it IS impossible, then "quality" is going to get sacrificed, because having some variation in song difficulty is more important that "quality", which is incredibly subjective anyway.

And Kit was trying to make it fun, and IMO she succeeded...it's just not fun for people who can't do 217 BPM 16th runs in FFR.

PS Why didn't Strangeprogram get this kind of reaction? It's even harder than this one, yet almost nobody complained.

          Re: SOTW Lawn Wake IV

Its not about "the complaints" they want to hear Sert. The song thats going to be added tonight is by far the most difficult song to ever be added to FFR. Its like a teacher saying " Oh I haven't given out a hard test all year, so I'm going to give them a three thousand question test tommorow, I can't wait to see how many complaints there are", meaning a vast amount of the FFR community expects some type of "normal" or "some-what easy" song to come out each week, yet tonight is going to be that "WTF" file where every last person is going to complain about it, theres no way around it.
Also, this is just a difference in perspective. While the FFR Staff does it's best to run a democracy for the song of the week, you have to look at the bigger situation. Of all the active FFR players, I bet half don't know about secrets that are over 5k. The higher credits a secret takes to appear, the harder the song should be, because credits (assuming you did not receive them from other people) basically show practice. With practice, someone gets better, and should be able to do "harder" files. Thats why this was set at 10k I presume. Next, look at the overall "echelon" of FFR players, you have a select I dont know, 50 maybe that are on the top tiers, and then look at the ratio of the difficulty of songs. 50:how many active players there are vs. I'd say 70 easy songs, 30 intermediate songs, 30 hard songs, 18 expert songs and I think its about 5 insane songs /150 something songs. I'd say the amount of good players to to the amount of songs we have is just about perfect. What's wrong with adding something once in awhile that allows some variation?

because the arrows in strangeprogram actually WENT TO SOUNDS THAT WERE EASILY HEARD.

definitely not the case here. the arrows here went to sounds that you could BARELY HEAR (i.e don't step them) especially on FFR.

whatever i'm right nonetheless i'll think about this a little bit more later... i just HATE THE DIRECTION THIS SITE IS TAKING. if it isn't fun, why play?

You talk as if all files to be added are going to be like these two. The weeks before this were StV (fairly easy song), Famouz (not THAT hard a song), and Klung Kung (which a LOT of people thought was really fun). I have no idea what next week's file will be, but I can virtually guarantee it will be nowhere near as hard as LWIV, let alone Galo.

you know why klung klung was fun? because whoever made it pick and chose what notes to put steps to so it turned out really fun.

here it was just "OMGZORZ DERS A SOUND HERE LETZ PUT A NOTE TO IT EVEN THO IT MAKEZ NO SENZE LOLZ!!!!"

                      I made it. Lol irony.

But I made Klung with "fun factor" in mind, unlike next week's song...I guess you think that all files should be made with "fun factor" in mind, and I don't...it's that simple.

                        Re: SOTW Lawn Wake IV

Sert: my statement that you quoted above was clearly taken out of context by you. Scottish explained my sentiments quite well... in that it wasn't "lol.. i'm so evil and this song will be hell"... it was "wow, i didn't expect this kind of reaction AT ALL... if this is how people are going to react to LW4, they are going to have MUCH worse reactions to GGC."

Although, IMO, LW4 works well for what it was meant to do. It was made to be a 10,000 credit secret song. It was made as an introduction of Flashbulb songs to FFR... and AFAIK, Flashbulb songs on SM are generally quite difficult. We wanted Flashbulb on FFR to also be difficult.

If you're worried that EVERY song that will be implimented in the future will be a 5+ on the difficulties scale, you're quite wrong. STV was intentionally much lower... I easily could have accepted a different submitted version that was full of jumpsteam. Famouz wasn't that difficult, nor even was KK04... JRB was made by you, so I really can't see you being able to complain on that front... MLR isn't that challenging, HD5 is simple... HD7 would have been just as hard if not harder had your version made it in vs psycho's...

Basically, we're really trying to get in all levels of difficulty (save those easier than about a 2 or 2.5). And as Shash said, we haven't had a 6 since Molto, which was over 2 years ago, if I recall correctly. I won't count Crowdpleaser, since it is only a 6 because of 2 small sections... the rest is a 4 or 4.5.

See where I'm coming from? And, I am far from the only person to review files. I'm almost positive that Shash has reviewed every file of the past few months, and I've shown a few others to other people for opinions.

Conclusion: If all you want are cookie-cutter files in FFR... that is NOT what I'm about. I'm about adding interesting and diverse files that will not only be challenging (hopefully) but also are GOOD songs. I've gotten a ton of recent submissions for songs (not files) that I've turned away because they just aren't very good.

GGC is a 6... people are going to complain about it... it goes to the music. the SONG is insane. Yet so unbelievably awesome of a song that everyone will want to play the file over and over again just to listen to the song.

that's what i don't understand. why wouldn't you make files fun to play?

EDIT: tass, i see your point... however i don't think that the flashbulb really is a good fit for FFR, ESPECIALLY in the hands of someone who puts an arrow to every note in the song

I'm steppping another Flashbulb song with "fun factor" in mind again.

We'll see how that turns out.

And Tass: We're 100% certain we're ok to use LWIV, and like 99% sure we're ok to use the one I'm stepping...we'd have to contact him again about others.

ps sert, trust me, files like DTM's Passage D Oni will never wind up on FFR.
