Re: FFR (as a relatively new player)
There's lots of classics. But lots of stuff unique to FFR as well. Good time to explore and try random songs.

Re: FFR (as a relatively new player)
You mean to say the song selection process isn't familiar?
I do feel we stand out as a rhythm game where you can't hear the song before starting the file.Leave a comment:

Re: FFR (as a relatively new player)
it's largely just a lack of familiarity. i felt similar with djmax before i played enough lol... not my biggest problem with the game, that'd be the client being so old (but that's to be expected)Leave a comment:

Re: FFR (as a relatively new player)
If you mean compared to other VSRGs that would likely be because FFR obtains artist permission for all songs in game and the charts are all approved through a review process on submission. Not to say we don't have some popular stuff in game, but that a lot of the "common" songs in various games might have specific licensing to those games that we don't have and thus can't use.
If that's not what you mean ya might need to clarify and I can try again haha.Leave a comment:

Re: FFR (as a relatively new player)
If I am to add onto the list provided by jacobvl39; there's also other song flags besides AAA.
AAA - Is awarded for perfect play, (e.g. Amazings and Perfects only, which are not distinguished in scoring, in the community all Amazings is also called an AAAA)
Booflag - A single Boo
Blackflag - A single Good
Avgflag - A single Average
Missflag - A single Miss
Omniflag - A good, an average, a miss and a boo
SDG - Single Digit Good, e.g. your total raw goods is less than 10 (e.g. a single digit)
FC - Full Combo
Pass - For passing a charti would like to thank you both i am most informedAAA Equivalency - this is the main number you care about. The higher the equiv, the better the score. If the equiv matches the song difficulty, that's a AAA. Your skill rating is based on your top 50 equiv scores.
Raw Goods - a measure of how much error you made. A good is worth 1 rg, average is worth 1.8, miss is worth 2.4, and boo is worth 0.2. Used to calculate AAA equiv.
Raw Score - measures the value of every note you hit, with perfects, goods and averages increasing the score and misses and boos decreasing it. This is what's actually used on the leaderboards to determine your rank, but it's more of an internal thing that the player doesn't need to worry about.
Grandtotal - this is FFR's old scoring metric that's based on your max combo. The AAA equiv system has made this obsolete, but it's still here because there are certain tokens that are unlocked based on GT requirements and because some players like the bragging rights of having a high GT.
Max Combo - how many notes you hit in a row without getting a miss
Credits - an ingame currency that can be used to purchase songs

FFR (as a relatively new player)
hi! i've been playing for ~5 years very sparsely and as of recently it's become my main vsrg! i just wanna outline the things i like and dislike about ffr as someone who hasnt been around for long
THE GOLD
NO HOLD NOTES
this may be an odd thing to list as a pro, but i used to be a quaver and osu!mania player a few years ago and the amount of noodles i had to sift through to find actually fun maps would make anyone with a weak mind faint.
PLEASANT GRADIENTS
the default noteskin has some mighty pleasant gradients. i am a fan.
IT'S FUN
its fun. it is fun. i have fun playing this
THE CHARTS & SONG SELECTION
i LOVE LOVE LOVE the variety of chart styles, and genres on display. it makes me giggle and clap like a tiny baby.
THE POOP FROM A BUTT.
AESTHETICS
the aesthetics in gameplay are not my jam sadly. i do not like this judgement font. i generally wish there was just more customization options other than being able to move things around. i think there should be an option for custom judgement images.
OH ME OH MY THE RANKING
i am not a fan of the results screen. specifically the lack of an easy to understand a letter grade. i am a dumb homosexual little gay little baby and im dumb. the numbers mean nothing to me. what in god's name is a raw good. does this imply the existence of a cooked good? where are my cooked goods.
NOTESKINS
as much as i like the default noteskin, the way custom noteskins are handled makes me quiver. a json with the image embedded in base64. this is not on. not to mention, alot of noteskins are just kind of lost to time due to pastebin linkrot. this is, once again, not on.
IN CONCLUSION
i like this game alot despite its flaws. ask me anything or something. maybe i should ask the people who've been playing for 20 years things instead. i do not know what the thesis statement of this post actually is, frankly.Tags: None
