Isn't level 4 life difficulty a little different in sm5 and 3.95? I read this a long time ago.

Why do life settings even matter in the slightest if fail off is allowed?

If fail off isn't allowed then I might back out because I can't pass a lot of the charts in the song list.

Important thing I need to point out for anyone and everyone in this competition:
Life 2 should only be used for StepMania 5 beta 3 and lower; StepMania 5 beta 4 will have fixed life difficulty, so you should be using Life 4 there.

I interpreted "Fail on isn't going to be a rule necessarily, but it's highly recommended to save time." as "if you fail your score is disqualified, so you may as well leave fail on to get back to song select more quickly"

If thats the case (fail scores = 0 points and/or disqualified), then I'm gonna back out. I don't see the point in failing half the setlist and as a result I wouldn't care about my scores anyway.
