Love is a chemical reaction?

Just like every other thought and feeling you experience, love is caused by a chemical reaction. These reactions usually occur at a certain time; you feel happy when you are given a gift, and excited when you're going somewhere special. And love occurs when two people become infatuated with one another. The chemical reaction for love is said to last for about a year, although the bond will remain there.

Although this makes sense, this doesn't seem right to me. I don't like to beleive that something so emotionally strong as love is just some chemical reaction with a time limit. I've always thought there was something more to it, that was unexplanable and confusing but profound. I'd like to hear some people's opinions on this;

We are born to reproduce and continue the circle of life. For mature humans that feel higher than a species like monkey, we find one mate and stay with them for life, i.e. marriage. I think love is triggered by specific things you like, for example I find really long hair attractive, I can't explain why I am turned on by this, it's just that way, possibly because of circumstances in my past life. Like seeing a girl with long hair being really nice to people and a girl with short hair being mean, Idk, that's just a possibility. But long hair is like a waterfall, it smells wonderful and looks wonderful, and it somewhat hides the beauty and pristine perfection of a girl's face like people aren't meant to see it because it is so righteous. For me, I have never been in a relationship ever and I am 21, I take this seriously because I want my first time to be my last so that I experience everything at its fullest. with the media through movies and shows exploiting relationships with teens and young adults so often, IRL it's all about hookups and break ups, rinse and repeat, the old tradition is completely gone, I follow it with utmost respect.
