Me acting in the Barbie Girl VideoPosted on: October 10, 2007, at 09:30:51pm [ 6 comments] Jamboree ArticlePosted on: October 10, 2007, at 03:46:31pm [ 0 comments] When I think back to the jamboree it seems like it was yesterday
That we where walking into the camp site carrying all our bags amazed by how the campsite looked and the massive amount of scouts, after walking 25 minutes of more finally getting to our designated campground we had to start setting up the tents.
Who could have guessed at that time that the following 2 weeks would be days I would never forget.
Have you ever participated in an event or experienced something so great with such emotional value that it changed your life forever.
The jamboree meant a lot more than just a simple camp I’m sure it also did to a lot of other scouts. It is hard to believe that scouting which is the biggest youth association in the world counting 28 million scouts started 100 years ago with just 20 boys. Looking down at the massive amount of 40000 scouts during the sunrise day, the day in which Scouting turned 100 years old filled my eyes with tears. Everyone renewing there scouts promise made me realize something. From that day on it wouldn’t matter what would happen or where I would end up all I knew for sure was that I would never be alone. There would always be someone there for me, a friend, a fellow scout cause as the jamboree slogan said We Are One World United By One Promise
Almost two weeks have passed and I still can’t take my mind off the jamboree. I’m back home but something doesn’t seem right it doesn’t really feel like home there is something missing. During the jamboree there was this unique feeling. I had the feeling I belonged there. There were 40000 scouts from 158 countries in the world some of them couldn’t even understand each others languages or didn’t have the same religion. We could be from opposite sides of the planet but we all had one thing in common and that was the simple fact of being a scout.
These are the things that changed my life and I’m sure it changed the life of allot of other scouts being able to participate in the 21st World Jamboree was an honour and a privilege. And now I know that I’m going to be a scout from heart and soul for the rest of my life.
