Religion Sucks.
Posted on: November 25, 2007, at 12:49:55am

Religion sucks because about 95% of the world's problems wouldn't exist if it weren't for religion. The terrorists over in the middle east wouldn't be able to feel superior and there wouldn't be any "infidels".

As someone who doesn't go to church, I feel free from the pressures of "oh you need to believe!!" I don't want to hear it. When I was very young my relatives would send me a whole crap load of book and tapes of watered down bible stories that at that age meant nothing to me but still stuck. Today I have forgotten most of the stories details but I do realize that they were all trying to brainwash me into believing in the 5000 year old pile of papers that the bible is.

I watched this documentary on radical Christian's and it was insane. The people were insane. And most of them seemed brainwashed beyond comprehension. One girl who was like 12 or something was dancing to Christian rock in her room and when asked about it she said she doesn't like Brittany spears and other people like her because they dance for "body" whereas this girl was dancing for "soul". The whole time I'm just looking at the screen thinking W.T.F. My dad's brother has never been religious even when he and my dad were getting religion beaten into them by their parents. So when my grandma (his mom) keeps acting like he will suddenly "see the light" it just makes him more frustrated. And when I hear about it I end up getting mad at my relatives because they can't accept the way the people in the next generation turned out. Religion. Sucks.

As my dad always says, "If you run into a group of people who believe in any kind of higher power, RUN LIKE HELL!"

If you think I'm going to hell screw you. If you have a relavent comment please say something.

If some admin or mod should somehow come across this and decide I'm being a heretic, just keep it to yourself because I would hate to get banned over free speech. These are my views and no one can change my mind unless I "see the light". XP

  1. lol, i love the last sentence. but holy crap dude, im speechless. i wish i had gotten to this subject earlier. i couldn't possibly agree with you anymore. im jewish, i had a bar mitzvah, i used to go to temple on holidays, etc. but i dont believe in crap. god, heaven, hell, religion, the bible or the torah...
i absolutely HATE religious fanatics who deny science. it just makes no sense to me. i dont believe in fate, or a meaning to life either. the all-powerful question is "what is the meaning of life?" my answer is why does there have to be one.
instead of trying my entire life to get into heaven, i think im just gonna enjoy living while i can.

    p.s.-i love the subject

  2. im sorta a fan or religion since well youknow itsbetter than like nothing i see it as a 50/50 chance of it being real and i dont wana go to hell if i have the possibility of not.

  3. Religion gives people hope and a sense of security. The people are radicals and fanatics of religion would probably find something else to cause commotion about if we didn't have religion.
I actually believe some of what you said, but it's really closed-minded and ignorant to be so blunt about the subject. You needed the retrospect.
You should think more about the subject, and be more empathetic and understanding towards religious people.
    Personally, I'm an atheist/agnostic.
    I don't believe in a god, but I sometimes second-guess myself.

  4. Here's how I see it.
If I go for science, and there is a god, I go to hell.
If I go for God, and it turns out in the end I all just break down into a bunch of chemical compounds, then hey, at least I was on the safe side.
I'm a Christian and my beliefs probably won't change any time soon, but I do see your point.
I really CAN'T STAND those people who have to be "perfect Christians" (go to Church every Sunday, never emit a foul word, all that crap...), and your grandma's section of the family is just like that, so I definitely see why you and your dad stand where you do.

  5. I'm not even going to really comment on this. If you did a religions study, you may know how much it's actually pushed us to find the answers. We wouldn't even have modern science if it weren't for all of the philosophers that founded the basis religion and all of its principles centuries ago.
True, maybe today it's a bit overboard. But you can't go around dissing religion in itself and be taken seriously unless you know at least a little bit about it.
    @Crash
That's called Pascal's wager. It's idiotic and terribly flawed.
    Sorry.
