Short series Lasting impact

Just finished watching "ElfenLied" and I have to say that most, if not all of the anime cartoons with a very low amount of episodes are the best. I just wish that the longer running anime cartoons were better so that one could have a longer time to cherish them. I would suppose that the longer ones would have to flashback a little bit to explain some of the plot. If anyone can find a long running anime that can hold your attention for months after the series is over, I would have to send them a massive amount of credits. (hint hint)
