Reason For My Skill Drop
Posted on: February 28, 2012, at 11:44:38pm

It took me a while to puzzle it out, but I was able to discover and look into why my skills were dropping.

Part of the reason is that I haven't been playing a lot lately due to laziness, and really, that's normal. What's also normal is this: The little rubber things underneath the keys of my keyboard (the things that give the keys their spring action)? Well, I took my keyboard apart and discovered the main cause: The rubber in those springs is starting to lose its elasticity, and therefore, making it harder once again for me to play efficiently, especially when the circuits cut out half the time.

Don't get me wrong: I have a good keyboard. And disregard what I said about the circuitry, which is actually fine. t's those little rubber springs that's the problem. Here's the deal: I have one of those keyboards where the rubber underneath is just one big sheet, not individual rubber caps. Fortunately, I have a second keyboard which I've already taken apart and put back together, and that one DOES have individual rubber springs. The best part: This other keyboard hasn't been used much since I first got it.

On the other hand, I am also having a bit of a problem with the conection cable, which, for some reason, wants to come unplugged, which causes it to cut out every now and then. And I don't have one of those fancy-schmancy usb port keyboard plug-ins, either. Instead, I have something far more ancient, which is part of the reason why it's been doing that.

So, there you have it.

  1. God forbid your keyboard causes like 2-4 goods per song :3
