What was that?

Okay, so I'm on my home from school today, and instead of walking along on the sidewalk, this time, I decide to cut across a patch of fields. So I go underneath the bridge that connects one of the roads to the skate park in my hometown, and as I'm heading down to the stream, near the water on the other side, I see this enormous animal. I could not make out what it was. Hell, I didn't even get a good enough look at it, because the second I saw it - SHOOM! - it was gone. Out of sight. The only thing I remember about it was that it looked kind of fuzzy, and that's about it. I don't know if it was a small, stray dog or a skunk or what, but apparently, it did not want to hang around me.
What was it?
