Book reports I don't care about.
Posted on: March 10, 2007, at 01:22:07pm

My English class has a book project due and every student has to read a 300+ page book and do a report on it.

This in itself is fine, but then I realized that the world is full of overly sensitive people (or at least people who pretend to be sensitive).

So we ended up with about 20 reports of books by Nicholas Sparks and my 1 report on Enders Game. It was the singly most annoying experience in my life. Apparently because they are teenagers, they have reason to be weepy and read deppressing stories about tragedies that have nothing to do with them.
HIS GIRLFRIEND DIED.
YOU DO NOT KNOW EITHER OF THEM.
I DOUBT ANYONE YOU WERE IN LOVE WITH DIED BY THE TIME YOU'RE 16.
YOU ARE NOT CONNECTED IN ANY WAY.
STOP REPORTING ON THIS.

Thanks for reading this, I just needed to vent.
And by the way, I'm not saying the books don't have literary merit, I'm just saying they can't possibly personally touch everyone but me in the classroom. If one person did it I'd be fine but 20 is way too much. Heck, most of them haven't even been to a funeral, so why are they so affixiated on death?
