This may be ridiculous but... Posted on: April 9, 2008, at 02:17:50pm DDR & ITG... FFR & Stepmania... I know between the four of these games there are very minor difference aside from what songs are available but to me their is a HUGE difference we are all aware of; FEET (former) vs. FINGERS (latter). I've been playing DDR (Max, Max2, 8th & Supernova) & ITG (IIDX) for about 2 years now and I may not be one of those crazy AAA don't-get-anything-but-marvelous/perfect players but I'm pretty confident with As, AAs or 96% respectively. But that is my feet doing the work there. Sure enough I have my pad at home that I can use with Stepmania and am sure I could get it going with FFR if I could be bothered setting it up; but what about my fingers? Surely I could get them up to speed?! Stepmania is a walk in the park with fingers playing all my favourite DDR/ITG songs as I know them back to front (not literally, I don't know ANY song in reverse!) and FFR has presented me with a whole new quandry of problems... So I came up with (a highly ridiculous) solution. Tiny shoes for my fingers and a scale-size arcade pad for them to "dance" upon. Oh it was a flash of brilliance... so I thought. I'd probably even have a little bar for my thumb to rest on! Personally I don't use it playing the arcades but could see it's advantages using it with my not-so-limber fingers to get that gallop a bit more timely. Ridiculous? Yes. Functional? Maybe. Time it would take to make? Likely more time than I can be bothered to devote. Someone already beaten me to it? Possibly. I'm sure someone could think of a more logical idea to better finger techniques with FFR but you can't tell me you wouldn't use a little arcade pad if you had one! |
