The Knight

Living in complete, utter, darkness
No place to run, no place to hide
Feeling lost and all alone
In this world of the unknown
I feel as if my feet will not carry me to that horrid place
The place where I long to never be again
Life on the inside of a black box chokes my pity as it flies to the shadows
Feeling the sense of shame at heart
Knowing it'll never subside
I wait in hopes that my knight will show, knowing that I'll always be alone

Day after day I lay upon the bed at night thinking of the life without my knight by my side
Loneliness strikes and fright overthrows me
Swallowing me whole as if it was a dragon that just had a great feast
As time passes he doesn't encounter me to say his lies
For he only seeks his next victim to meet me inside the belly of this beast
One who has the same fate as I?
Doomed and without hope
I cannot live in this denial any longer
Only way to cope with the pain is to forget my knight and seek the light

Once upon the light and darkness subsiding
I run forward and never look back
Running quicker trying to seek a star that night
One that will lead me to a life in the light
When time strikes I go to that place that I long not to be
Only to offer words of wisdom
And a place at heart
But soon enough I find that
My knight has been with my all along

He darkens as I unfold my life upon his chest
And pleads for me to run back in time
I confusingly ask why, but he only smirks and places a hand on my heart
"Because I have been the light in your heart"
