NaNoWriMo! Posted on: July 31, 2011, at 05:33:18am 50000. Fifty thousand. Five times ten thousand. 30. Thirty. Four weeks. Weeks of seven days. I have won the battle. Sometimes it was heavy and difficult and there was more than once when I tired and wanted to quit. There were times it seemed like a burden, and I could think of nothing better than to just forget it. Other times it just was good. Good times and memories, smiles, laughter - it was good. I soldiered on, inspired by the words of friends, family and complete strangers. The feedback that told me I was doing good! I, among thousands will end this day weary of words and language. Dialog and context. Battles and struggles. Romance and heartbreak. However, we will keep in mind those who have fallen, those who breezed through week one, to struggle through week two, and to fall defeated in week three. Our support goes to you for next time - we’ll fight together! Fifty thousand words in thirty days. I have conquered glowing forests, demons, insane angels, and yet still the adventure is not over. With fingers weak and weary I put down my metaphorical pen. I will cease the typing on my poor over used keyboard. My weapons - my words - shall breathe relief as I rest them momentarily. This is not the end - merely the beginning. My 'm' key can stop hating me now and hopefully begin to work again, without me having to bash it. Camp Nanowrimo - National Novel Writing Month - I have won this gory battle! My dearest comrades of this weary war, our foes have fallen but we stand as the winners. For ourselves, for our land, for our characters who are no longer ere ideas but people who have lived and fought alongside us. My companions of the war of words, whether you weep for fallen comrades, or rejoice in the success of friends, may your dreams have soared over glistening oceans, though the fires of hell, across warring nations and fighting armies - to simply reach the blue sky above you. A happy ending? A sad ending? I cannot tell you - but I hope that your imaginations, and your dreams are as the sky is - blue and endless. May we charge into battle once more! |
