Total Eclipse of the Sun (jh05013)
>Perms, metadata, sync good
>Intentionally understepped easy file. Seems you’re just following whatever melody is dominant throughout the song. Note density & usage of jumps seems to reflect the intensity of the current melody. 1.020-12.520 = Gong & that one repetitive piano note. 13.020-36.770 = Chimes. 37.020-60.770 = That “ah-ah” sound. 61.020-84.770 = Chimes. 85.020-90.770 = Chimes. 91.020-96.770 = Chimes (and maybe Piano?). 97.020-107.270 = Chimes. 109.020-133.020 = Chimes & Flute(?).

17.020-17.520 - Two diff sounds occupying [23]. Please fix.
29.020-29.520 - Two diff sounds occupying [12]. Please fix.
*37.020-60.020 - This section was the most questionable. I think I know what sound you’re stepping, but the PR is confusing. Are you putting the anchor based on the pitch of the “ah-ah” sound? If so, then why are you shifting the anchor to different lanes? For example, 37.020-39.895’s anchor should mostly be on [1]; any non-”ah-ah” sound could be [2], [3], or [4]. When the pitch changes, you can move the anchor and have your three different lanes for the non-”ah-ah” sound.
86.395/87.145/90.145 - Missing note
91.020/94.020 - Maybe put a jump on these special “AHH” sounds
95.395/96.395 - Missing note
95.520-97.020 - Spice up the jump pattern here. [24][34][24][34]. There’s four different sounds on each of these jumps.
98.520/100.020/101.520/103.020/104.520/106.020 - Maybe put a jump on these special “AHH” sounds
109.020/121.020 - Could be hands
114.520 - Should be single
133.020 - Just end the song here. If there was a meme noise awaiting me after 10 seconds, then that might have been fine. But a simple fadeout? Nah.

>>Cool understep idea. 37.020-60.020 is an issue worth CQ’ing. Might as well do some cleanup on the rest of the file too. You have four weeks to address this CQ. (assuming your final score is 7 or above) [7/10]*

This is one hella long and pretty uninteresting intro. I think you're better off starting this file at 37.020, cutting the rest of the beginning.
38.895 - missing note
48.145 - missing note
102.145/103.395/104.895/115.395/127.395 - missing note
142.020 - This is unnecessary. Just end at 133.020.

Some minor errors exist, which are easily fixable. But this file leaves me conflicted. It's reasonably sound on a technical level, but completely falls flat subjectively. I think it's overall just boring and I don't think even the cut I suggested above will help. The file is highly repetitive and slow to change.

I just don't think an FFR audience will like this approach to the song. I'll leave it up for appeal if you'd like, but it's a no from me.

Thanks for the notes. I'm planning to make it a little bit harder, if I ever resubmit it. In particular, I don't like the first 24 notes and 37.020-60.020 (where are the clearly-audible 16ths??), but I also wanted to make the difficulty roughly proportional to the sound. So maybe putting more notes throughout the chart will help.

I also tried to make an 80+ semi-chordjack version before this one, but it turned out to be surprisingly boring.
