CHRISTMAS EVE (6.5/10)
metadata / permission = good
sync = It's slightly off, but it fluctuates as well, which makes fixing it kind of a headache for something people won't notice much.
**19.944: These 16ths in this section do not exist, both the background melody and the main melody are 12ths and 24ths for the most part, 20.310 does exist, but it's playing 48ths from 20.249 - 20.493.
- 30.614: This sound doesn't warrant a OHT imo
- 31.346: Ghost note
- 34.761: Could be on column [1] to be congruent with 5.614
- 37.962: Don't think this should be a jump, you don't put a jump at 42.352.
- 43.419: You could make these poly's instead of jumps, you do it earlier at 19.944 and it's actually warranted here.
- 56.590 - 57.078: All the jumps in this section feel slightly off, but the jumps here especially; this was noticeable to me even on 1.0x
- 83.419: I'd like this jumptriplet to follow the melody like the other jumps, C A B or something.
I find the music starting at 87.810 pretty unpleasant, maybe the other judge has a different opinion, but listening to this made it hard to judge for me, especially since every sound seems muffled by the background noise.
* 96.956 - 98.358: Why is this part empty? It doesn't seem less intense than the other sections and I can hear the melody playing in the background.
- 98.358: It's very unclear to me what these 48ths are going to, I can follow the 24ths after perfectly fine, but I don't hear any of the melody on these 48ths.
- 102.169: This 32nd is a 12th at 102.200.
- 105.371 - 109.029: This is quite hard compared to the rest of the file.
- 122.444: Missing note to the background melody.
- 134.639: This is a very sudden ending, on FFR the music will stop on the last note, so this will seem very sudden. I'd like to see you fill in the final 10 sec of music as well. I don't think it's too long or repetitive and it kinda gives the song a more complete feel.
I'm not a big fan of the second half of the song, it's very noisy and all the sounds seem to blend together. The empty spot felt a bit strange to me and there are technical errors peppered throughout the chart. It's a very hard song to chart so for me that's a mitigating factor, but as it stands I think it's a bit too messy for acceptance.
Score is not final, second judge will update the song status with the final rating.

Thanks for the notes.
While waiting for the second judge, I'd first like to address that 19.760-23.907 is actually 16ths. Here is the corresponding part in the BMS file: https://imgur.com/ZquZssb.png
Edit: After listening to this section again, I think the entire melody sounds like it's 48th-96th off because of the time it takes for each note to become audible.

I'm having a really hard time hearing the 16ths, the 24ths are more clear to me. The wavefilter doesn't tell me otherwise either.

I agree it's a bit more polyrhythmic then I initially thought, but most of the 16ths still feel off to me. I drew an arrow at one of the 16ths because there is an increase in intensity there, but it's barely noticeable compared to the spikes in the wavefilter that can be seen on the 24ths.

CHRISTMAS EVE (jh05013) [6.0/10]
> Permission check good.
> Sync looks good (No changes necessary).

-[00:05.614 / 00:05.858] Incorporate the jumps into these notes as well.
-[00:16.346] PR could be improved via 3-1-2 or 4-1-3 or any mixture as such.
-[00:22.687/etc.] I can sorta see why 4th jumps are placed here but at the same time, extremely quiet/not very contrastable against many of the other singles within this section. Would suggest going back to singles.
-[00:25.614] Jump consistency sort of falling apart in this section; Jumps appear to scale up to every 4th as a jump when density rises, rather than following a particular sound of an instrument, such as a very nice, crisp drum snare that could’ve been followed at 00:26.346 consistently for example.
-[00:31.346] Ghost 24th. Remove.
-[00:37.962] What warrants 32nd to have a jump here vs other 32nds? What about 00:42.352?
-[00:43.175] A fair amount of missing 12ths in here, and given their inclusion earlier in the file, I’m unsure if they’re supposed to be included here.
-[00:46.102] 12ths are skipped? There’s nothing else happening here besides them. They should be included given everything else happening within this song.
-A lot of the issue here is following a very specific instrument. However, I can tell that it was stepped at 50% speed because if you play it back at 100% speed, the singular instrument that is stepped is overpowered / dulled out by the rest of the instruments that contain a higher bass.
-[00:59.943] Missing 48th.
-[01:12.077] There is an 8th here, but if you’re following just the instrument on 12th/24ths, then this 8th isn’t apart of this instrument.
-[01:27.809] Again, the main singular instrument being followed here is being drowned out by the other instruments & the bass at 100% speed. Also, definitely isn’t 32nds. It’s 24th/16th poly. https://i.imgur.com/WbHE1Dg.png
-I don’t think I could let this in as-is with how other instruments were excluded in some sections, which leaves sections between dense areas vacant. As well as the dense areas misrepresenting the mixture of 16th/24th polys that make the song as interesting as it is.

Thanks for the note. I'll look into what fixes can be made based on both notes.
