Dishwater: Inappropriate?
I just felt that something had to be said about this song. I'm sure there are plenty of young players on this website. It may be a little inappropriate in subject matter. I know Tass warns us on the frontpage about it, but I was still taken aback.
Now, I'm 23 and understand exactly what the song is talking about/referring to. And yes, I do find it funny. For the better part of the song, though, my jaw was dropped as I listened in shock to what I was hearing. Yes, the song is funny, but perhaps inappropriate for our younger audience. Then again, younger players may not comprehend the references, so I may be overreacting. So basically, I was wondering if there should be some kind of warning on the song itself when you click it, or something like that. What are your thoughts?

Re: Dishwater: Inappropriate?
I had the sound down when I played it because I was supposed to be doing homework and didn't want my parents to know I was playing FFR, but I can assume what it's about from the title, and I'm only 13. I think 13 is the youngest you're allowed to be to have an account on FFR. Here on the forums, you're allowed to say the f word and all sorts of stuff. Honestly, I don't think it's innapropriate for the audience we have, but I definitely wouldn't mind a "Parental Advisory" think slapped on to the title of the song like we do for the song "Seattle's Finest". Then again, the song is in the Hip-Hop section - that should be enough of a warning to people not to play it if thy don't want to hear innapropriateness.

Re: Dishwater: Inappropriate?
I don't think so. I like this game site because people don't bash each other on the forums all the time swearing and crap. And even though it's there, it's sparse.
When I play some of the songs with cussing though, as soon as I hear it I know it's gonna be bad. I don't mind, however. I think that if you don't like that song don't listen to it. Not just that though. Any 13-year old, or younger can easily just get on yahoo and find any rap song with cussing or anything for that matter. Basically, if a kid wants to hear something he's gonna hear it, and if he doesn't he doesn't have to. He can always turn down the volume anyways. There is a lot of good music out there with cussing. I think tass's warning is sufficient. I personally would hate having to click on certain songs and clicking an okay, or seeing parental advisory in the corner or something. I do understand your point, i have a 13 year old brother, but still, i think it's just unecessary. if a kid isn't gonna take the time to read tass's rules and warnings im sure he won't just skip that parental thing.

Thanks for the insightful and informative reply! So based on your comment about the 13 year old restriction, I did a little research. I logged out, experimented with the birth date registration...and I saw this... "All users under the age of 13 must seek permission from their parent or guardian in order to gain membership of the FlashFlashRevolution Forums forums. While we welcome participation from members under 13, we require that a parent or guardian fax or mail back a signed permission form before we grant membership." So based on that, people under 13 need permission to use this site. Though, one could easily lie. Anyway, good thoughts on the matter, props.

I just think this particular song may be a bit too vulgar in general, and should maybe even be removed? I know some songs on FFR have swear words and I think those are ok. You're gonna hear swearing in your life, heh heh. I dunno, it's more the subject matter/content of the song that irks me.

Re: Dishwater: Inappropriate?
dog: the under 13 issue is not just us... it's law. we could be sued otherwise. and, i contemplated putting a PA on the song, like Seattle's Finest. i decided not to because in terms of profanity, it only has 1 or 2 uses. Just that the song is not-so-subtle in it's reference to stinky vaginas.
basically, we need to be 13+ in what we add. i've rejected songs such as "**** jason" and "winnepeg is ****ing over" because of the song titles as well as content of the songs. we don't mind songs with profanity... we can slap on a PA if needed, but it still needs to be within reason. certain songs are just over the top and unneeded on this site. but stuff like dishwater, imo, is more funny than anything else.

I hate the language. OH an Tass.... I got a AAA on Dishwasher and it did not record. I am stuck with a blackflag. Could ya fix it? I forgot to SS, and I do not want to play that song ever again.
Nvm, I got an SS.... Uploading.

Tass:
Thanks for the response. I understand the 13 thing being the law. I also figured you've been through a discussion of first approving this song and then debating the PA. I'm just putting my 2 cents in, and sharing my reaction. I was quite shocked, and am gathering the thoughts of others. Anyway, I know the decisions admins make are the right ones, that's why you're in that position Oh and a happy birthday to you!!

Re: Dishwater: Inappropriate?
It seems like the servers are lagging. AAA's recorded on the Game Level page, so with time the level ranks will probably catch up.
Also, I lol'd when I listened to Dishwater. It makes me sad that people are offended by this stuff. Just remember that you can always turn off the sound. |

This is my first post and probably gunna be my only post. What the hell is wrong with our society to be worried about this? Pettiest problem gets more attention than a car-bomb that kills 30 people in Iraq.

Re: Dishwater: Inappropriate?
yay for having the two most pornographic songs in the game lol
FSR actually has another song that I wanted to step called Hey Ladies, it's got even more vulgar subject matter along with profanity. But it's even funnier than this song. If you enjoy this song I'd highly recommend downloading their album for free on their website. EDIT: I'd put on the Parental Advisory if it were up to me, not like it's really needed but just for quitcherbitchin' factor.
